Anyone know what happened to that guy that was here briefly bragging about riding around without a license on a turbo charged harley?
The rusty nail? Probably paying through his arse for that self-insurance failure.
what are your guys thoughts and opinions on skimming a disc on a bike? also if a positive where could i have this done?
I have never heard of it being done.
I suspect because the tolerance for thickness are that much tighter on bikes.
Also not exactly sure how you would do it “on bike” as you do with a car.
Personally, just like with cars, I would never do it.
why wouldnt you do it on a car?
Because more often than not the cost difference to simply replace the disc instead of skim it makes more sense.
If you aren’t using a dealership.
Also much easier DIY to install your own new discs than to have it skimmed.
how much do you think skimming is vs a disc? skimming from what i know is like R400, a new disc is like R3000?
The only reason to skim a disc is if it's warped. And if it's warped, something made it warp so fix that first, and then replace the damn disc.
Then replace them if they're scored, chances are skimming will drop them close to minimum thickness. Of all the components to skimp on, brakes should be the very lastthe discs are bad because the previous owner let the pads run down too much

Dealer discs are that price for sure, but go to Midas and they'll sort you out for much less with decent discs. My previous car the dealer quoted R9000 (after discount nogals, lol), I bought the parts for R1700. I then did it myself but you can easily still go to a tyre/brake place and have them fit it for like R250
