I Think Paarl/Stellies/franschhoek is a good option for the cape town boys/girls not to far for the small bikes. If the guys with the small bikes feel adventuress they can even try coming over Du Toitskloof pass :)

Yeah I was also thinking this side of the mountain is the best bet all round.

Maybe even out to Riebeeck Kasteel / Riebeeck West haven't been out that way in years.

Very good idea and the back roads are great for the slower guys / small bikes as the back roads are generally quiet

So the previous Du Toitskloof ride was awesome, but I'll tell you what: My arse was sore for a couple of days afterwards. :D

To be honest though, I don't really enjoy riding the CBR for leisure - It vibrates too much, and makes a fairly tiresome noise at it's upper range of speed (which is not fast).

If I had the wherewithal, I'd get something more meaty tomorrow.

Sounds like someone is building up an excuse not to come...

Yeah that's what I was thinking.

If I remember correctly my very first breakfast run was out that way and the roads did help a lot in calming my nerves.

But I wonder what the odds are of it working against you though?

That's the wonderful thing about recording your own near-death-experience video: you get to assess it first and then decide whether or not the insurance company should assess it :p

What software did you use to speed up standing at robots?

I see you're so calm, my videos aren't easy to watch with my head moving so much.

It's just the GoPro software which I find quite lacking to be honest. I was hoping it would be easy to add little comments and things in there.

As for the calmness I don't think that's me but just the lack of camera sensing movement. I tried to line it up so it looks where I look but it just doesn't appear to be working.

In fact had my friends comment that I don't look left and right and intersections and such which I definitely do. There is a very specific moment where I purposely looked over the bay but you just don't see that on the footage.

Partly why I think it seems so boring.

Will maybe try and switch it to Narrow view next time and see.

My head mounted cam footage also look frantic at a faster playback speed .... left, right, up & down continuously. But that's the price you gotta pay to ride a bike...

The issue is that where you look and how your head moves are not always the same amount of movement. I had the same issue with my GoPro. I noticed when you looked over the bay and you probably had a decent view but because your head just needs to move slightly as your eyes do the work the movement is almost not picked up.

In talking to some mountain bikers they told me smaller helmets work better because it picks up more movement (something that we can't really do) and that when making vids you have to learn to move you head with your eyes. That way you have a better 1st person view. I just found it to strange to do so gave up on that.

I discovered that when I mounted my camera on the side of the helmet it picked up movement a little better.

Yeah that looking over the bay was very deliberate and still didn't pick it up.

I'm not so much a fan of the side mount.

Must see if I can chin mount it and that should also give a better more centred view, but with the angle there I fear it won't stick well.

Do GoPro make a foot that isn't flat or round but angular instead? Even with that though probably not enough space.

If I were to buy a camera it would be the Session and just stick it on directly.
