Guys who did their license recently, how much detail did you have to go into with regards to the pre check?

Are you doing the test on your own bike? If so they will generally be more lenient on you.

They only require 5 things from you. That's the mirrors, tyres, spokes of the wheels, chain and chain guard, and loose wires or oil under the bike, in no particular order. Just mention that all those has been checked, mirrors secured, chain is tightened and guard is on, tread at least 1mm deep, spokes are intact, and no oil, petrol or wires under the bike. That's it

Did you do it through Billy? :p

The "official" list seems quite long, like disc brakes, etc...

I've got them memorized as follows:
1.) Wheels - 3 things - Tread at 1mm, Side wall damage, spokes
2.) Check bike for damage, oil/petrol/loose wires underneath.
3.) Shocks for leaks
4.) Chain tension and guard
5.) Mirrors secure and not damaged

On Bike:
1.) Nuetral
2.) Ignition to on
3.) Kill Switch
4.) Choke
5.) Fuel Tap
6.) Start

Nope - hoping to shop next month, paying cash, so saving still.

Why would they be ore lenient on your own bike?

Passing the test on a bike that has been tuned to never stall, easy clutch etc etc is easy. Hence they are more strict if you show up on those bikes. Especially if you come on your own bike but then switch to the one from the riding school.

you can get a decent late model preowned harley (esp in the Cape) for around R100k with tons of extras. I would suggest a minimum of 1200cc. the bike is very heavy you will find the should you ever decide to pillion, two people will make the ride a bit sluggish.

Well ****.

My bike fell over in my driveway and hit the wall.

The mirror snapped off, and there's a large dent in the tank.

I see my old 50 cc licence is now good for 125 cc. Anything in that size worth getting?
