Initially, work and back - beat the traffic.

Was going with a Harley 883, but starting to doubt their service (as a cash buyer I'd expect a bit more interest, not ignored emails) ... so looking at other options.
Harley in traffic not as comfortable and manoeuvrable as the GS in my opinion.

Worth it or no? i sometimes have to park at a friends house where i don't have visibility of my bike where its outside the house's fencing. the motion trigger is what i'm liking in that.

I'm keen on the 883 as a first bike, not as practical as the BMW - but why the hell not :p I asked for a complete price this morning so I can start making the funds available - if I don't get a response by the end of the week, I'll call Tygervalley.

One thing I don't do is beg people to take my money, especially if its cash.

You are already begging and accepting sub standard service.

Go to Tygervalley today and forget about Cape Town. They are useless.

Yip - looks like I will be - funny thing is, I know the salesman from car days years ago. His loss, not sure how many customers pay cash.

Guys, any advice on buying a bike from someone which is still financed by a bank? I'm fuming since the owner didn't tell me this from the start. I went to his house with the intention of buying it. Can I pay the settlement on his behalf directly or does the money need to come from him? How do I proceed?

Chat to his bank.

Usually you should be able to pay it to them directly and the difference to him. Then they might even send you the documents directly.

advice please

Im looking at getting a second hand Cleveland Heist as my daily work communter, that being said, I want to get into customization and this frame looks like it can handle a lot of abuse.

The fact that I've never heard of that tells me it's probably a bad idea...

What did you want advice on? You simply made a statement.

This

And my question is, should I get it, and if anyone knows about customization

Yeah I can Google.

But I'll go back to the fact that I've never heard of it before which tells me it doesn't really exist in any major capacity locally and is therefore probably not a great ownership adventure.

Since you seemingly want to do it all yourself I guess it's all up to you.

Seems like a poor man's wannabe Harley to me. Almost like the fake (Indian) Royal Enfields but worse.

This just warms my heart with trust...

Just how bad of an idea is it to buy a bike in a different city from a dealer without physically seeing the bike? Why are 600 bikes so hard to find and in decent condition? I've been looking for weeks and I can't find any. I use to think my budget is too low but I'm willing to pay +-R70k now and I still can't find any that I like in the CPT area

Depends. Will you go fetch it?

I bought mine in Limpopo but physically went to pick it up myself.

Would only sign for it after seeing it.

It did however only have 600km on which is much less of a worry.

There are transport companies that will collect and deliver your bike for you. Not sure the cost. WHT type of 600cc you looking for? Supersport, dual sport, cruiser?

As for why you can't find them...it's a combination of "boets" who can't ride and jump straight on 1000's combined with the horrible misconception that 600's are good starter bikes and people who have never ridden either jumping on them and killing themselves so the bikes no longer exist or pulling them through their ass in blissful ignorance and cool factor.

Supersport. I've looked into transport companies but the issue is that I won't see the bike until already payed for.

I saw this one below on OLX and it got me thinking.

My preference is for a 2007+ CBR600rr though. I've ridden one and it fits me perfectly.

If I was looking for a litre bike I would have found one within the first few days. So many to choose from on Gumtree.

Not even slightly surprised.

Honda wants to scrap the CBR600 for good reason.

I also heard that rumour, as from 2017 they plan to scrap the cbr600. Pity as it's such a great machine. Thing with buying used bikes, they come in waves. One week there'd be like 5 bikes in the same price bracket, then there's nothing for weeks....
