Have a look on AliExpress.

Easier to probably buy two very similar ones and replace both.

My bike appears to be made from foamalite...

I'm not sure if this is normal or something that wasn't removed at PDI?

And my question is, should I get it, and if anyone knows about customization

It's a nice bike. Saw one in George a while back. I would definitely buy one if I had some extra cash laying around.

Unfortunately it will not be an ideal bike for out of town riding since it develops only 10.5kw. You'll probably be able to do about 100-110KPH with it out in the open. (it's actually a 230cc, my 180cc develops 12kw and can do about 115KPH)

That bike is already customized , what more do you want to customize on it ?

250 cc cruiser is a bit under powered .

Most local 250cc cruisers are underpowered, unless you look at the BigBoy Voyager from what I've read has a cloned Yamaha engine. My cousin has one and she can easily get 140KPH on it. I bought a new Kymco Venox earlier this year. It's basically a Honda Magna with some cosmetic changes. (Kymco build the Magna for Honda) Lots of power for a 250cc (21kw), and it looks good as well.

So due to bad gear choices this mornings commute was the coldest one this year for me.

it has been 2 months.
I cannot find a Cam shaft for my bike.

considering giving up on it and selling it for scrap, but right now it needs to wait for the wedding to be over before I can do it.

What bike?
Is there no engine swap option?

yea it was a bit fresh - I went for a morning ride with jeans, riding boots and riding jacket. Wind went right through the jeans.

its a 1997 Yamaha Virago XV 535.
the engine is an awkward size. and because there are two different models for the 353, two different 750 models an 1100 model and a 450 model that all came out in SA in 1997, tracking down parts is difficuilt.

I have been thinking about a full engine swap, but I have no idea what engine will fit.

the only solution I have kind of found so far is I can get Yamaha pretoria to order a new cam shaft and bearings from Japan for me, but there is no guarantee that Japan will have it. and if they do, its 3 to 4 weeks wait.

will a new engine work out cheaper than the R7K a cam shaft will cost? I dont know. the bike hosppital has nothing that will fit. I have looked....

Damn, and I was contemplating buying one for a Cafe Racer project...

Guys, OK so I have a bit of an issue with my battery charging system on my cbr250r. I need to get a rectifier for the bike, but don't know where to get one, except the agents which will be over priced. Any ideas where I can get one in Cape Town?

I am not sure if there is an after-market part for the bike, but i will also need to look for after-market spares for my CBX soon as it will be due for a service. Have you called the agents already or is it just an assumption that they will be more expensive? if it is the latter, maybe call them first, at least then if you find an after-market item, you will have something to compare the price with

I'm not an owner yet, but I'm planning to become one, as hopefully from next year I won't be doing school runs and my commute will be 7km each way into Sandton from Randburg - a bike just makes much more sense. I'm having thoughts about something like this: http://bikes.autotrader.co.za/used-...sertao--bfpa-8a81c83e56363013015655858609665c

Going to try to find the time to go book a bike learners test ASAP, then maybe see about a lesson or two. Are there any recommended schools in the Randburg area that don't require you to bring your own bike for the first few lessons?

Get a scooter, they are more stable at lower speeds thru traffic. Unless you plan to do highway, then get a bike.
on a Scooter you want to go max 60-80km/h, so your traffic needs to be slower or dead still.

Don't buy those or the scrapyard-refurbished ones. Buy the China-imported ones on Gumtree or Bidorbuy. (I was the first to resell these after refusing to pay 5X locally)

I will probably also use it for going to Harties on weekends on occasion. Scooter doesn't appeal to be honest.
