I guess congrats in advance Sinbad!!

Let us know how the bike is once you got some mileage on it. I'm lookin at getting the same bike next year for commuting, the ZX6 is taking a toll on my back. AND, if things work out, I might be commuting to the same place as you from next year ;)

Wesbank are busy processing the finance atm... so just holding thumbs! Thanks otherwise :)

People I've spoken to say this thing is brilliant for commuting, upright position etc. I've seen some criticism of the seat but that can be upgraded to something more comfortable.

Also read that about the seat. There was a place that could add extra cushioning to the seat on Ontdekkers close to Goldwagen, I must check if they still around. My friend had his CBR600 seat recovered there, it cost him about R300 about a year ago, and the workmanship was excellent.

Looks slightly better than my razor of a seat. I however knew a guy that did Pretoria to Cape Town in a single day on his.

Mind doing a mini-review on your bike?

I have been interested in them for a while...

I've only had it for week so my experience is limited. Thus far i am very happy. The riding position which i thought was to forward when i looked at the triple clamp isn't actually that sporty. I am 1.74 m and the riding position suits me fine. The fairing is abit low but an extender will do the job just fine. My neck was taking stress which the extender will solve.

The bike is very stable and give you confidence to throw it around. I never had a bike with temp, avg speed and fuel consumption etc. in the instrumentation so thats a huge plus for me. I get about 22 km/l doing 120 -130 km/h.

Haven't pushed it as yet but at 160km/h its still solid. Very impressed. Gear changes is smooth. Haven't had the opportunity to drive at night yet so no info on the headlights.

Still getting used to the turn signals for left and right and the cancel button on the right hand side.

The front brakes is really top notch. Best i ever had on a bike. Luckily it has abs cause it is really sharp.

Since i am no superman the weight of the bike is nice to maneuver around without breaking your back.

My 2c so far.

Finance approved, prime -1 variable or prime+0.5 fixed.

Decisions....

Take variable.

Pay it like it was the fixed rate.

Still a winner even if it goes up by 1.5%.

Evens out if it goes higher.

The difference is R58 per month or something. I'm just going fixed ;)

It's not per month that matters.

It's R58 * 54 (or whatever) and the relation to total interest paid.

R3134 lost just on the loan term alone.

I see the R58 as insurance against the coming rate hikes, to make budgeting easier :)

That's why I said just add the R58 to your debit order and you are insured.

Fixed rates historically almost never save anyone from anything.

Gooi an extra R500 at it every month and pay almost no interest at all.

Fixed rate is normally 3-4% above variable...

but yeah you make sense, changing to variable.

Yeah yours is quite low but even so if they rate hike by .5% now and again in 6 month and again 6 months after that you are still almost two years away from actually paying that so no point to volunteer for it from day one.

Fixed rates are nothing but fear mongering. Or for people who are at the limits of their affordability which I don't think you are.

Haven't been on the forum for a while, but here is mine. I ride everyday to work and it is a breeze in Pretoria traffic!!
