Popped past Randburg motorcycles to check out some gear. Nice guys there, it seems.
Ordered an XL summer jacket and some leather gloves, the guy reckons I don't really need boots. I'm not convinced.
One thing, they offer a free chain tension check/lube every two weeks. Quite tempting since they're only a couple of kilos from home...
You need a lube every 1500km (or even not at all if you like) and it's an easy spray on especially with a centre stand.
Tell me how you don't need boots after you broke your three middle toes at the bridge or worse your ankle.
Get the boots. And not done generic Cats or Hi-Techs. Proper stuff with angle protection.
And waterproof while you are at it.

Yeah will get boots. Any suggested suppliers?
must be made from unobtaniumotherwise it doesn't exist
Well often the boots themselves are waterproof.
Water just gets in from the too past the pants.
Only "boots" I have ever found that are waterproof are a set of wellies ... but then they don't give you much ankle protection.

also don't make the mistake of putting on the boots in the shop and then try to ride home - you will find that with most boots, you will need to adjust the gear lever to be able to get the boots under them - made that mistake once
Best boots you can buy are a set that really feel comfortable on your feet. Alpinestars, Dianese, Sidi, Forma, TCX, REV'IT, Icon ... all make great boots at more-or-less the same price with more-or-less the same features; what you need to do is go try some on and see which feel the best for you (especially if you are going to spend a fair amount of time in them).
OK, thanks for the feedback.
The look and price of those is ok, but I'm going to swing past BIker's warehouse this afternoon and see what they have.
