I've only had it for week so my experience is limited. Thus far i am very happy. The riding position which i thought was to forward when i looked at the triple clamp isn't actually that sporty. I am 1.74 m and the riding position suits me fine. The fairing is abit low but an extender will do the job just fine. My neck was taking stress which the extender will solve.

The bike is very stable and give you confidence to throw it around. I never had a bike with temp, avg speed and fuel consumption etc. in the instrumentation so thats a huge plus for me. I get about 22 km/l doing 120 -130 km/h.

Haven't pushed it as yet but at 160km/h its still solid. Very impressed. Gear changes is smooth. Haven't had the opportunity to drive at night yet so no info on the headlights.

Still getting used to the turn signals for left and right and the cancel button on the right hand side.

The front brakes is really top notch. Best i ever had on a bike. Luckily it has abs cause it is really sharp.

Since i am no superman the weight of the bike is nice to maneuver around without breaking your back.

My 2c so far.

Thanks, sounds great - lovely looking bike!

So i got a quote of R9770 For full Akra exhaust for my ER6-F. http://www.akrapovic.com/#!/motorcycle/product/road/11722?brandId=31&modelId=155&yearId=733

i paid R55k for the bike not sure if i should spend 10k on an exhaust. some advice? what would you do? i do have the money saved up, but i do want some other luxuries still (new phone, fitness watch etc)

ER-6F has a nice looking stock exhaust, do you simply not like it personally?

i have no gripes with the look of it. its just wayyyyy to soft, and from my research only way to get it louder is drilling it, which i'm not willing to do.

I was going to get a slip on installed at R5800 for a GPR fitted but they can't get stock.

That's pretty cheap for a full system actually. Mine is something like 12k just for the slip-on.

That being said 10k is still 10k and you should confirm that you don't need mandatory tuning if going full system as that will mean a power commander too.

All really depends how long you want to keep the bike.

Why not order direct from GPR and fit it yourself.

Try doing a google for a comparison specific to your bike and see which ones run the best.

I know it's about looks as well but you don't want a pipe that messes up your fuelling in a way that destroys your day to day ride.

Most will cut on low end torque for up top power which isn't what everyone necessary wants or needs.

Price dropped a grand in the latest paperwork. I think they overquoted on the warranty ;D

have to do some research on the tuning, i plan to keep the bike for at least 2 more years before upgrading.

gpr don't offer slip on only full and that comes to just under 10k shipped excl import duties etc.

EICMA starts today! I love looking and reading about all the awesome new bikes I cannot afford ;)
Hoping KTM announced their 800cc twin. Also interested to see if triumph make a new STR with a 800 engine....

update.

seems my bike will be writen off. it is undrivable and we cannot get the part.

while this does suck.
it leaves me with some options.

I can put in like 10, or 15 K and get a much newer bike.

right now there are 3 options.

1) BMW F650 GS. not sure on the year. but its a VEry good price, however, its not a cruiser....
2)2004 Susiki VS 800
3) 2003 Harley 883, but its white, and looks silly.
4) there is a 2002 Virago 1100 in Nelspruit for super cheap. and it looks very clean. but its like a 3 hour drive to go check out if the photos are accurate...

I dont have an exact budget yet, so I am lookign with very loose search criteria, but the F650 and the Susuki are leading the options at this stage. with the Virago sitting in third place.

wtf. My insurance brokers just came back and told me they made a mistake and they don't insure motorcycles.

Any suggestions?

Budget is pretty good. very understanding.
willing to pay out in my case, a accident and a fall, caused a mechanical failure and that is what totalled the bike.

Move to Santam. Never have problems.

You do get motorcycle insurance specialist companies that'll insure bikes, gear etc. Don't have a name though.

I'm with a broker. I am actually quite shocked that they haven't even tried, just said my current product doesn't support adding a bike.
I asked how I insure it then

Their response:
Good day,

Kindly check for a company that can insure it, as on our side we cannot.

Kind regards,

wtf.

Time to switch brokers.

That's what happens when you're at a big firm and just another number. What you want are these small brokers where every client counts :p
