Cannot view the autotrader link, but I think these are being brought in and sold by Cayenne

As far as I know it's an independent operating out of Somerset West.

But could very well be they have a deal with Cayenne or Cayenne also bring them in separately.

I've requested a test ride like a year ago and never heard back.

Popped past Randburg motorcycles to check out some gear. Nice guys there, it seems.
Ordered an XL summer jacket and some leather gloves, the guy reckons I don't really need boots. I'm not convinced.

One thing, they offer a free chain tension check/lube every two weeks. Quite tempting since they're only a couple of kilos from home...

You need a lube every 1500km (or even not at all if you like) and it's an easy spray on especially with a centre stand.

Tell me how you don't need boots after you broke your three middle toes at the bridge or worse your ankle.

Get the boots. And not done generic Cats or Hi-Techs. Proper stuff with angle protection.

And waterproof while you are at it.

Yeah will get boots. Any suggested suppliers?

Sort of depends what you want to spend.

I have my eye on the BMW Sneakers which are about 3k now and I want something more "normal" looking.

Currently I have Sidi Vertigos that are about 13 years old, not waterproof and now cost about R6500+.

Daytona is a good all rounder I believe.

also don't make the mistake of putting on the boots in the shop and then try to ride home - you will find that with most boots, you will need to adjust the gear lever to be able to get the boots under them - made that mistake once

no gear lever ;)

Best boots you can buy are a set that really feel comfortable on your feet. Alpinestars, Dianese, Sidi, Forma, TCX, REV'IT, Icon ... all make great boots at more-or-less the same price with more-or-less the same features; what you need to do is go try some on and see which feel the best for you (especially if you are going to spend a fair amount of time in them).

OK, thanks for the feedback.
The look and price of those is ok, but I'm going to swing past BIker's warehouse this afternoon and see what they have.

Alpine Stars make some decent gear - but at a cost. I picked upa pair of DMD Poker boots for a little under R2k - rain proof and excellent ankle support

Best plan.
And don't let the price or brand swing your decision. One of the worst sets (for me anyway) of offroad boots I ever owned was a pair of Sidi Crossfires that set me back around 7 grand at the time. The best pair of boots (and what I still tour with) are Thor Blitz's that I got on special for just over 2 grand ... and they work damn hard

A decent rain suit might also be a good idea if you intend to commute no matter what the weather.
