Ah, in that case ignore my ramblings, I'm just upset that I haven't been out more :p

Day trip only? I'm half thinking that I should take off like 2 weeks, and slowly make way way around the country on random roads... one day, one day

Yip, just day trips, this one was to the Umkomaas Valley, lovely scenery. We started near Cato Ridge and worked our way to the N2 at Scottburgh. Round trip was about 300km.

Recorded the trip above ... unfortunately, Tyre uses google maps which is missing roads... I use a TomTom Rider 5.

This one was 3 weeks ago .... same area

Anyone here have a Hypermotard or more specifically Hyperstrada or even just ridden one?

Would like to hear about it.

The Street Triple is getting a bit uncomfortable and I'm thinking of doing a straight swop to something else.

My very first bike my dad bought me 32 years ago. I think he paid R50 for it if I recall correctly. (the good old days) I haven't started it in probably about 18 years, going to see if I can get it running again over the weekend.
Yamaha FS1. Retail price new in 1971 was R245. 49cc two-stroke. 5 speed gearbox. The SA version was a lot zippier than the moped+pedals version sold in Europe. A real nifty-fifty for schoolboys.

I have an Italian sibling to the Duc.
Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 ABS-ATC. 1 year and 20 000km later and running perfectly.
Comfortable, handles very well, loads of power (rated at 130hp but can keep up with superbikes on a track with ease and on the road), ABS and traction control, Brembo brakes as standard, etc.

The only ussue is the relatively small capacity tank (15 litres).
Ridden decently, it can get around 160km before the reserve light comes on. When ridden like it is supposed to be ridden, 80km and the reserve light comes on.

That is actually pretty funny.

I was looking at the Dorsoduro first this week and then found out Suzuki South has pulled out of Aprilia and won't be selling them any more.

Made me think there is something behind the scenes with Aprilia SA again.

Also it didn't have much in the way of luggage options.

So I just happened to take a gander at Ducati's website and found a few almost new Hyperstrada's. Oddly enough the bike I drooled over before demoing the STR but they were just crazy expensive.

Then purposely didn't ride a Dorsoduro cause I knew I would like it. :)

Coming from a Buell who sort of did this kind of bike first I have a reasonable idea what to expect.

Going to try and get a test ride in Cape Town and buy ex Jo'burg. Can't imagine buying a bike without riding it first.

First it was Kawasaki SA that screwed up, and now Cayenne has taken over as the Ape agents here in SA.

Service parts are not that expensive and these things are very reliable. And they sound just epic with a set of Stealth slipons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v9iX3PItrc

I bought the DD with 7km on the odo and took ownership on the 25th June 2014 and have done 20 000+km in a year on it. I can honestly say I have not regretted the purchase for a single day.
I ride literally everywhere with it. Even been down some dodgy sand roads with no issues.
Also done track days at Kyalami and Zwartkops with it.
The only things that went "wrong" was a fly-by-wire throttle control unit that was on a recall and replaced for free and one front brake disc developed a small hot spot and caused some brake juddering at low speed.
Other than that, it has been smiles all the way and I ride it hard most of the time.

I was going to get either a Hypermotard or a Tuono V4R, but this one was offered to me at a brilliant price so I nabbed it.

Aaah so Kawasaki SA is out as I suspected.

That's like the fourth time Aprilia "SA" has folded in the last 10 years.

Cayenne seems to be rocking it though, so that's a good thing.

Only problem I have with the DD is the lack of luggage options. But I might go test ride one regardless, just for fun. Also a bit heavy on fuel.

I have a whole lot of riding to do this weekend.

Hyperstrada
Diavel
Streetfighter 848
Monster 1200

Now let's just hopes the rain stays at bay till after mid morning.

I bought myself my dream bike. This is the one I have been wanting since it came out. My Lamborghini bike :) It is a 2015 BMW S1000R, all the bells and whistles. Loving every moment on it.

Very very nice.

If I was inclined towards superbikes I think that or the Panigale with their down and upshifting assistance now are probably the best in the business.

Both the H2 and new R1/M1 just look like cheap toys to me.

When I was still leaning towards massive bikes I was thinking if not Multistrada I would go for the S1000XR, but I don't think the 4-cylinder would work quite as well in that kind of frame.

Anyone here have any experience with sidecars? I am in love with the Ural Gear up and I know that it will be quite a learning curve to go sidecar. But I am considering getting one once I have paid off my current bike.

Thanks mate. I believe the S1000XR is a near perfect machine (well according to RJ that is). I am sure the S1000XR would be a superb touring bike. Maybe go give it a ride?

Another RJ fan! He he, love that Nuda of his.

Ag I was all for getting a monster of a bike again but then I thought again about why I bought hte Street Triple instead of the Speed Triple and it comes down to the fact that I ride every single day and a lot of that extra power just goes to waste. COsts more in fuel and tyres and maintenance and costs more on purchase while doing 90% the same job.

Thus the option to go for the Hyperstrada as it offers me sort of the best of all worlds.

Now I just hope I like it tomorrow...and don't like something ridiculous like the Diavel more.

I hear you. I upgraded from the Street Triple R to the S1000R and I will never ever look back. The bike is absolutely amazing, so easy around town and in traffic. Use it to commute daily nad I travel from Randburg to Rivonia. I actually feel more comfortable on the S1000R than on the Striple R. The extra power is also very nice for emergencies :) Go give the XR a shot mate, maybe you will fall in love like I did. Hahaha yeah the Diavel will not be your best commuting bike :)

And as for RJ. That dude is a legend! Love watching his videos and he is one of the guys that got me started on vlogging..

RJ is good because he doesn't talk the whole time. The other motovloggers become annoying because they just can't shut up.

Some are annoying, but I love listening to Leadpin. He is *** funny! Also enjoy Baron von Grumble.

Some of the subscriber spotlights at the end of RJ's videos are annoying. I can watch a bit of snowcatxx87 and jake the garden snake too but RJ's videos are the best.
