Exactly what I was going to suggest.

Even if you wait for them to land to buy the older models for cheaper.

The GS is a bit tall, but there are options for lower versions. New one may be different though.

There may also be more road-bike off shoots but that will only happen by next year.

For a commuter I always thought the 650GS was a nice small nimble bike but the 700GS might work as well. Though I personally feel the 700 is in kinda no mans land between the 650 and the 800.

And otherwise their bikes are just built better to be worked on easier and faster.

Maybe the new bikes but I recall how a throttle cable replacement on a R1100GS took us over three hours a year ago

any guys here recently converted their headlights to LED?

I know somebody who change the headlight on his Harley and loves the LED - the two bulbs to the side light up a broader area.
I just changed the headlight bulb to the OSRAM NightBreaker - Major difference

A friend rides a GS1200 and BMW install a sort of Bucket Seat and he is a little shorter than Fanie or maybe even the same height

At 5'9 I had no problem on a 1200GS

1400km over 3 days, think somewhere around 900km of dirt roads. If only I could do this every weekend
If anyone is even remotely close to Die Hel, it is strongly recommended even though the roads can be very hectic (just ignore the dangerous roads sign at the start ). Lots of cliff face twisties and very loose gravel/stones in the corners, I managed to go round in 2nd on most and get the back wheel kicking out. Others I quite happily ambled through in first gear and saved myself a one way ticket to the bottom of the valley, since those corners have quote a steep descent leading into them and I don't have the skill to scrub enough speed on those surfaces. Roughly 42km to the restaurant at the end, took us about 70 minutes.
And the surrounding roads in the forests are also really cool to ride in

Centurion area, but my bike needs the H11, that I've heard could be a problem, but will go check them out

Yes, you get what you pay for and rats don’t like Germans.

Also I guarantee the BMW will be cheaper to run than the Honda.

But yeah even with their trade-in assist probably still won’t make sense.

just called them and they do have the H11 - R470/pair also had a look on Aliexpress and the H11 is $33 there, so probably a fair price

So which one would then suggest? Keeping in mind what I'm coming from...

Get a KTM 690 Duke or KTM 690 Enduro R Depending if you are wanting to try amazing scenic rides etc....I have the Enduro R and to have this much fun in traffic should be illegal
Can't say how long it will be till you have to go visit the dealer though
In that respect...get a BMW.
How about the RnineT? not cheap though. If you want affordable, I'd say a good one is the F800GS.
Even an older aircooled 1200GS is an awesome commuter and affordable Extremely easy to work on yourself as well if you want to since the engine covers are right there. I ride my 1200GS LC basically with the same ease as i did with my NC750X. You only have to be a bit more aware of the handles since they are a little wider.
