Anyone know of a place in Cape Town that clean or valet bikes?

Pink Car Wash in Willowbridge.

The Harley Dealerships used to as well but not sure if they still do and how they feel about non-Harleys.

And it really is a stupid choice of motorcycle for police/traffic work.

So many better options I can think of.

I disagree, it depends on where/what you want to use it for. A 250cc scrambler for example will be great in a congested city, but not so much on open road/highways

I’m saying in that particular class for that particular purpose there are infinitely better/narrower/lighter options to achieve the same goals.

My RS for instance can do all the same things without the hassle from the BMW stable.

From the Honda stable the Africa Twin would make more sense than the Pan Continental.

Also a massive bike is useless if someone can’t ride it. So regardless of how fit for purpose the bike is it’s then also useless for highway/open road use.

They aren’t policing across country. Using a long distance touring bike for day to day use it stupid. Not even bikers who can ride would but it unless their purpose is multi-day long distance tours.

So rather supply something more useful and appropriate.

Of course not putting someone on a bike who can’t ride is a much better start.

Never mind it’s appropriateness it’s just another waste of funds and expenditure.

lol they haters but when they were next to Cubana they did wash the rocket as long as you moved it away fast
I don't know about now with water restrictions but donfords don't wash anymore for almost a year now
I have a guy come to my house once a month to wax but he brings his own stuff

Donford still washes for services and such.

You mean by special request valet?

They always wash my bike voluntarily if I just go for coffee there.

Harley Tygervalley aren’t too full of it but I actually wonder if they don’t maybe have an agreement with Pink Carwash and that they do the work indirectly.

The Stellenbosch folk haven't washed my last two services . Said they have no grey water.
Have decided to respray panniers and paint touch up but heck those prices ...be lucky if it's 12k

Oh right forget they are called Donford as well.

I only go to Cape Town.

Are they doing the respray? Or someone else?

On the RS (if a police version existed) you're leaning forward more than on the RT, so again I disagree. Upright is going to be way better for increased field of view and actually being able to be on the bike all day every day. An AT might make sense (if a police version existed), but only from a weight point of view, dimensions are pretty much the same. And historically these big bikes have been in use across the world for decades now, so someone must like them for some reason

I think they should've gone with the F800GS. They're not slow, can be lowered easily and they've got the upright seating position.

Seat height on the RT is 55mm lower than the 800 (looking at the lowest setting for both), how far can you drop the 800 suspension right out the box? Remember that governments aren't going to be looking for something they still need to modify afterwards. You do save 45kgs though which is a big plus

edit: and one thing we might be overlooking (since we never comes close to the limits) is the electrical capacity of these bikes. RT has a 25% bigger alternator and 60% larger battery capacity. Doesn't matter to us but once you start loading on lights (and possibly computers) and then expect it to be able to stand at a roadblock or whatever for hours at a time these things also come into play

I didn't think about that!! The bigger bikes should still remain for roadblocks etc, no argument there. You get lowering kits for the F800GS which lowers the bike by 7cm, which by bike standards is phenomenal.

I must be honest though. I'm jealous of those JMPD officers with their K series bikes and fancy uniforms. It kinda makes me want to become an officer myself!!

Imho the most overrated car wash ever. heard so many good things, took my Jeep there, rims still mud on them, inside barely wiped. nah....won't be going there again.

The Cops should be on the New NC750's imho. Perfect plus Frunk for all their ****. VEry little fuel consumption and will be able to catch most cars and a lot of bikes.

"Back in my day" the cops rode Yamaha DT125 2 Strokes.
