same here, I've got the the 1290SA and a Wings pipe - takes less than 5 mins to strip off

I've got one of them vibration sensor alarms too. even with me telling you its there and giving you a schematic you wouldn't be able to disable it without tripping it.
I went ahead and added a relay so it trips with ignition, and a tilt sensor so it trips on well.. tilt.

that sounds great! and it's not messing too much with your battery?

Not at all, my bike used to only be ridden on weekends and it was perfectly fine. I ride more now though.

I bought it from max inc, and was R400 at the time. I can't see it on their site now though.

Yup. My bike has a FOB - so the moment it is our of range, about 1m, it automatically arms. You cannot straighten the bike or even roll it while it is on the side stand without it going off.

Had my license disk stolen. A cop pointed it out to me in a roadblock, but laughed and said it was common, told me to hide the next one under the seat and then let me ride off. I know of a case where (and i stand to be corrected) 3 Harleys where loaded onto the back of a Kia bakkie outside a dealership in Gauteng
 
So a buddy of mine somehow snapped his 2003 Yamaha WR250 Kick starter. Apparently one can only get this from the dealers, who want R2600 and a 6 week wait.
Going to try get it welded though i'm not too hopeful it'll hold. anyone have any suggestions ?

No suggestion, but a question: Is you buddy the guy that kick starts the boeings every morning at OR Tambo?

IF it can be welded, I would look for some what to add a stainless sleeve over the break as well, just to strengthen it

EDIT: or go to an engineering company with both pieces and get them to machine another piece. there is some serious skill out there

He was in his garage servicing the bike as its been standing for some time. Explains the how it broke probably kicking that bike all morning.

Its a Yammie with a ktm soul.
Funny story, i had the same bike a while back, only a 2001 model with NO auto decompression. being the lightweight that i am i couldn't start the bike due to the compression. he once tried to start it and ended up with the end of the kickstart in his calf,, had to get stitches.

Bad as it is, I struggle to feel any kind of sympathy. And then there's the moron in the comments that says "speed doesn't kill".

I will always feel some sympathy, even when people die as a result of their ignorance

Speed is obviously a great factor when evaluating the risk of an accident and denying that, is ignorance
