Guys I need some confirmation or to be corrected. My daytime bulb went after around 24 hours and upon inspection the glass is completely melted on one side. Would this be due to oil from fingers or could it be something else that I’ll need to diagnose?
What bulb is it(as in the type/model)? pics? bike?
Also to clarify, you mean glass of the bulb itself not the housing?

drop them an email or FB message just for interest sake
Might just do that. you've open a wound i healed a long time ago, and now its itching.

they did a nice slip on for my nc for R3400

If your front brake pads are lasting longer than your rear brake pads than you are def not riding properly! Scary o_O

First bike ever that I've managed it. Usually the fronts go and then not too long after (within the next service window) the rears.

I suspect in the case of the BMW it's the linked brakes that are eating the rear on top of my own manual nature to use them as it only links front to back, not back to front.

Either that or the rears are just a much softer compound than the fronts. But like I said above (below) is that when I changed them they actually didn't need changing so things may very well have balanced out. However then I would have expected BMW to want to have changed the fronts at the same time.

ah ok, and those SBS pads, how long have they lasted you thus far?

Only put them on the other day at 32,000km and now at 39,000km so too early to call.

Hardly looks like anything has been used.

It's maybe worth mentioning that they had plenty of pad left when I took the originals off. I basically bought the SBS without actually checking myself like I usually do and listened to the mechanic.

So once I was there I figured what the hell, just change them anyway.

So I went to a few dealerships, found this one that fits me well, and looks good: https://www.autotrader.co.za/bikes/...i9zb3J0L3ByaWNlL2FzYy9zZWFyY2g&result-index=4

The dud of the day was BMW. Not a single person in the huge centurion dealership lifted their head while we walked through the floor and looked at the different 310 bikes. After seeing what I needed to see (310gs is indeed a very good looking bike!) we decided that BMW will be a no go.

Duke 390 also fits well, feels very light.

I am still considering getting a lowered NC...

I'm not understanding? Why is BMW a no go?

He got crap service at one branch and is now ignoring one of the most popular brands for motorcycles instead of just trying another branch.

Talk about cutting your nose to spite your face. C'est la vie I guess.

Up there I wouldn’t go anywhere but Bavarian.

Sounds to me like he went to a multi-franchise which is exactly how you don’t BMW.

Nee jirre man.

Front brakes as primary. Rear brakes as secondary always.

60:40 - 70:30 ratios.

I didn't say anything to the contrary.

Definitely my front brakes still did 80% of the braking in terms of stopping when my rear pads wore out within 10'000km.

Now in good conditions I use 100:0 braking for no reason other than reduced maintenance (which I do myself).

Oddly enough, the big BMW dealership referred to is actually Bavarian Centurion - also odd is that they are know for the best service - maybe just an odd day :)

Oh I wasn’t aware they are in Centurion.

That is very strange indeed, because as you say they are objectively rated one of the best dealers in the country.

@evilskaap I would implore you to go back there and go straight to Dominic and try for a better experience.

At the same time I fully respect not wanting to deal with a dealership who ignored you the first time round.

Thanks, I will ask for Dominic, I will make a plan to go on Saturday!

Yeah. They provide free tow-ins to their shop for any BMW rider stuck in the area. Seems like an amazing crew.

This was one of the reasons I looked at them.

Every time as I am about to recommend any other bike that a BWM to somebody I recall the service of Bavarian Centurion and recommend a BMW instead. Their free pickup extends to 150km from their location regardless of your motorcycles warranty status. They have a nice seating area with coffee if you have to wait including lockup for your helmet etc. and extremely helpful and friendly staff.

I would note that their sales staff might have slipped a bit since I bought as they don't hound you anymore if you idle around looking at the bikes.

This is a pretty cool video. Didn’t know a South African company makes their carbon wheels.

Nice to see a local company doing well in a niche market.

Those Arch bikes are quite nice actually, don't know STS as an engine manufacturer though - any good?

Oh my bad, wrote it from memory but didn't check it out. I really like Keeanu. He just seems like a regular dude who also happens to be proficient at a number of things.
