I have one of those AutoWatch immobilizers fitted to my bike and I regret it. Drains the battery if you don't ride too often- I'd imagine a tracker would be that much worse. I wouldn't do it- I also refuse to fit a tracker to my car, not just bike. There's also the issue of cutting into the wiring harness and if whoever fits yours doesn't know what he's doing, you end up with more headaches than it's worth.

@SykomantiS, thank you for that info. I just worry about the safety of the bike. My experience with a tracking system is bad because my car was stolen and they were not able to locate it..... its been 6 months and not a word from the service provider.

Well then there you have it. Messes with the electronics AND it's useless. Skip it.

Also, welcome to the forum.

Hi there, I am buying a new bike please could somebody advise if it would be ideal to get a tracking unit fitted on it.

I have a Netstar Nano on my bike. My insurance insisted on it.
The Nano has its own battery and needs no cutting into the bikes wiring

There is a 150cc 8 hour endurance race coming up later this year. Brother friend has one and we are going to enter a team!
This little thing is so much fun on the track!

Tell us more about it! Everybody semi serious or are there teams that buy an old bike just for a weekend fun and then get rid of it again? Idea forming ...

Ultimately depends on your insurance and whether they demand it or not.

Personally I’d never put one on mine, if it gets stolen I don’t want it back.

Don’t know about up north but down in Cape Town it’s generally a piss take.

CB150RR’s if I recall.

Bit of both. lots of cash prizes to be won with this one!
So I am sure there are going to be some big guns as well

Good idea that, makes for more fun less serious racing.

I wish they still made them like they did in the 80's & 90's, your comment reminded me of the 250's back then, 4 pot >18 000rpm monsters with around 50bhp on tap which is more than any 250 single like you get today, as I understand it they also came with proper kit, twin rotors, upside down forks and the latest in chassis tech. Wonder why they didn't keep building them that way. I understand the great demand for cheap and efficient but this would also sell if produced.

Yeah, we sommer used the friends bike, stripped off the road kit and still has road tyres on. For the race we will however most likely put on tyres that are a bit more sticky. Leaning over and scraping the knee on these thin road tyres is pretty sketchy tbh

2-stroke got banned.

I’ve seen a chick kick super bike big bike ass with an Aprilia RS250 at Killarney.

More like this,

I think the Honda was the exception to the rule really.

Everyone else was going nuts with 2-stroke and easily winning out for it.

Of course maintenance was ignored.

Oh and the FZR, which sounded like a boring vacuum cleaner back then and yet now the noise I prefer.

Had a VFR400 pull up next to me the other day and it still sounds magical.
