Push start is not even possible on my 2006 Suzuki. if the battery voltage is too low, then sorry nê.
What we used to do is replace my battery with my dad's blackbird, start the Suzuki normally, then put the shitty battery in the 'bird and push start that- because it had carburettors instead of FI

Funny that my Buell would not let the start button do anything at all if the voltage was too low. It wouldn't even try, computer simply says no.

But could happily push start it.

Carbs on a Blackbird? Didn't they come out with PGM-FI?

Nope. The Blackbird came out in 1997 and had carbs. Later models, either 1999 or somewhere early in the 2000's had fuel injection.
"You learn something new everyday"
I was only aware of the FI versions and thus assumed they had all come out with Honda's PGM-FI.

I've just done some digging and you are quite right! Pre '99 was carb while the '99-'06 versions were fitted with the PGM-FI and better Ram Air Induction which collectively took the power output from 99.1kW (Carb) to 122kW (FI).

That's quite a substantial difference!!!

I've heard various (unsubstantiated) claims that the carb'd Birds were faster than the FI ones. It's probably not true but I know that thing my dad had was fast as ****. For the rather heavy chassis that it had, it could haul ass in a way that I almost want to believe it. Either way, Blackbirds are really great bikes, even today.

Hey Guys! I have a KTM 250R Freeride. Only do Enduro and Trail riding. I'm too lazy to get fit to compete . I am considering doing South to West this year.

Ya those things do haul arse! My father briefly had an FI model and it was probably one of his favourite bikes that he ever owned. Very comfortable and goes like the clappers!

That's what I always enjoyed with Enduro - The fact that you didn't have to always be competitive and could just go out for a lekker ride with some mates. One of my most memorable bikes was the old KDX200 (later became the 220). That was such an awesome, fun little 2 stroke and reliable as anything!

Ya you can say that again! Those KDX200's just never die. One of the strongest bikes I have come across. I am way to short to ride anything else other than my lowered Freeride and those smaller farm bikes.

There is nothing better than a chilled ride in the bush and being in nature!

Yeah I've had the bike 2.5 years now, so it's probably time.
No push start possible :/ Had to phone my support vehicle to come with jumper leads.

One of those power bricks that can jump start cars is a big help in these situations. I've had one for a long time because when I was doing trips to the middle of nowhere and it's mighty useful (luckily I was never the one who needed it)

IT200 FTW;)

I was (and always will be) a Yamaha fan over a Kwaka.

You guys are funny.

Something like a 250 Ninja is 39hp and a cbx 125 is only 17hp. (CBX 250 is rated at 24hp BTW - dunno why is so down on power for a 250, maybe aimed at entry level riders.)

Most likely emissions control.

Single cylinder bikes produce a lot more harmful emission than multi-cylinder
