Why'd you sell it?

Unrefined (Zero rear suspension travel, and I had non-adjustables on the rear). Became jarring after 50km of freeway riding, vibrations - everything vibrates.

Developed a nasty oil leak on the rear cylinder which threw oil onto my leg.

So basically par for the course for American made.

Ironically the story goes that bikers started wearing black because of all the oil the old Harley threw. something to do with their chain drive if I'm not mistaken.

Their crankcases leak. This bike is a best drive. Should I covert to chain it would most likely leak like a strainer

I am honestly disappointed. Harleys make a shed load of torque, but something like 45-60hp from 1200cc. I think I may even be overstating it.

Well the average American is a heavy chap you know, plus his wife and all their baggage that torque comes in handy on road trips or when you need to hook it up to a plow.

Did it have any redeeming features though?

Character, the amount of torque was great! Handling - ****, too little lean angle. Ground Clearance - okay. The bike felt numb, especially the front end.

And you wonder why they're in such trouble globally.

That and the bike ran really lean, which used to make me worry a bit. If you run the bike hard, it will lean out further. If it detonate that motor would have probably been damaged a bit.

They already Ping a bit during a SA summer.

Was it a badly looked after second hand or something?

Nope Harley engines are not Euro compliant, so the EFI ones run suspiciously lean.

Hmm reminds me of the story about how the Americans fought against the tolerances required in manufacturing the Merlin engine, the tolerances the Americans wanted would have meant that parts would not be interchangeable from engine to engine.

I know you didn't just compare a Harley to "the hot bitch" of the world??? I just know you didn't... I must be misunderstanding you.

You are, I'm comparing the idea that something will be good even though you kinda know its going to be a nightmare

For the same reason you date the hot bitch that you know is crazy because you think she will be fun in bed.

You mean you go after the butch chick that has a clitoris that'll tear up your arsehole, but you go for it anyway, as you've others say it'll change your life?
