I’d implore you to maybe pay a visit to Donford to see what they have in the BMW stable.

It’s not cheap but it’s great.

Otherwise just stay the hell away from Spirit for helmets and probably everything else.

Whats wrong with spirit helmets?

that and you don't really want to finance that kind of thing, finance is a beatch

Also, don't banks only offer fiances for maximum 6 year old vehicle or something like that?

Rebranded Chinese kak that doesn’t conform to any safety standard of any kind.

You can leave it alone in a box and it will break itself.

Oops, oh well, must be better than the 8 year old R500 V-some-brand special I used to use LOL

Second this sooo much. I bought their jacket, pants and gloves.

Gloves binned after 7months of daily use, developed a hole in each palm.

Jacket torn on both pockets, pants torn in crotch area. Its really bad quality. Stay away...

I know it's expensive, maar "goedkoop is duurkoop".

I've had my Shoei GT-Air for 3 years and have used it every day or 55k km.
The rest of my kit is Alpinestars which I've been using for a year and a half, only because I had an off and had to replace the damaged kit.

My point is, that if you buy motorcycle gear properly, you buy once. I'f you've got a big head, Fire it up is selling Large & bigger helmets at R3500-4500.

Buy Alpinestars or Dianese if you want stuff that lasts forever.

An alternative to these purely because they're local is DMD's Octane brand. My dad has a set and he can't complain.

My Shoei GT Air has certainly stood the test of time over the Shark before it.

However I’ll make one point that even the brands like Alphinestars carry cheaper lines that just don’t work and are also cheap and nasty.

Had a pair of cheaper Alphinestars which last all of one track day weekend before they started to fray. Took them back for more expensive RST’s purely because my winter gloves were RST and lasted me pretty well.

Still using them in summer.

So brand isn’t everything, but cheap is cheap.

Dunno which A/S you bought, but I've got a pair of SP-8s, SP-5s, Santiago's and C-3 Windstoppers. All great.
I had Gunnar Jacket, great. Amok Air which I'm using since October 2017, great. Oxygen Air easy overs, great. Roam 2 boots, great. SMX-6 boots, great.

Make sure the stuff is sturdy before you buy. I won't easily buy outside of A/S.

Yes, as I just found out. So no worries there - Will pay cash.

The remaining issue is that of insurance - I'm getting a quote from my current insurer, but also keen for any recommendations in that regard?

Yeah don't remember as I returned them rather swiftly.

Wasn't meaning to say Alpine Stars isn't great, just that any brand does have it's cheaper lines which have the same issues as most cheaper or no-name brand stuff.

Hi guys, absolute noob here, I am in need of serious help!
I just bought my first bike in almost 20 years, but I want to ride legally, as its the responsible thing to do. (not young and stupid anymore, just young).
Anyway, long story short, I work in Libya, and I am only home for about 2 weeks at a time every couple of months, and I URGENTLY need to get my learners, the problem is I cant make an online appointment for the time im home, as I only have 3 days to go and confirm said booking. I cant get hold of any testing centers to see if they are willing to accept my wife with my forms and ID to just confirm the booking.

Does anyone have ANY ideas, or a actual number I can call where someone will answer?
I live in Centurion, Gauteng so dont mind travelling around gauteng for the test, I just need a friggen booking!

PLEASE, someone, ANYONE help!

You can book online, haven't used it before, so I don't know if it suits your requirements.

Sounds about right.

Then again Honda have a history of shitty voltage regulators that overheat. So if it fires after extended periods of cooling down and only ever is problematic when warm then it could also be that.

But likely the battery as the bike is old enough.

Push start at all possible with the DCT?

Yeah I've had the bike 2.5 years now, so it's probably time.
No push start possible :/ Had to phone my support vehicle to come with jumper leads.
