So I got the iPad Mini on a CellC contract through Autopage and so far, I have been happy with the service received from Autopage and CellC.

But I ran into a catch-22 situation recently when trying to figure out why my service has been banned.
Turns out they send you SMS notifications to warn you about your data usage and the amount of data you have left, but the iPad Mini doesn't support SMS'es, so I never received them.

Autopage told me that the only way that I can get these SMS'es is if I insert the SIM into a cellphone. Unfortunately I don't own a cellphone that takes a NanoSIM, so basically I have to ask around for a phone with a nano SIM card tray to get the notifications.

These notifications are really important to me, since I'm a student working on a tight balance and I can't afford excessive data bills.

Isn't there any workaround for this problem? Can't I get the SMS notifications on an alternative number?

Also, I can't register for the Autopage myAccount web interface because they send your login details and password via SMS, which again, I can't receive on my iPad.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Why don't you monitor your data usage on the ipad?
And set a hard/soft limit on the sim card.

Btw, you alse get sim card converters.

Make a nano-SIM adaptor using a prepaid simcard, using this template.

Not sure if the iPad Mini supports USSD?

EDIT: Found this app that does allow you to access USSD-based menus. So you can check your balance using it.

Autopage...oh boy are you going to regret that. Why didn't you go directly with Cell C?
