Hey, I looked around and saw I had some old parts here.

I basically want to use the LCD laptop display I have and turn it into a sweet small Monitor, but I have no idea how to do the wiring and if I actually need a LCD controller board, I kind of think that I will need the controller board so my next question would be where do one obtain such a thing?

I also have a few webcam parts and microphones any suggestions?

I have one Samsung LCD Display will post the picture now and I also have a old VGA cable that ran into a CRT Screen, is it possible to connect the two directly ?

All help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I have more than one of those LCD's.

Here is a picture of the LCD screen connector.

If I can buy the lcd controller locally it would be fantastic I don't like to import things.

I looked into this a few years back with no success, but from what I remember you must start off with a Google search of the panels model number and search for a controller board that way

I also realised that when I woke up re energized this morning.

Damn, does anyone have an Idea of a local company that does this?

I dont want to do Chinese importing and then have to drive up to customs etc etc.

Nope, could not get hold of any.

Did you find a other way to convert your laptop screen into a desktop monitor?
I think I am going to order from overseas if I can't get this damn Controller Board in the country.

Discard the wirings, it carries more stuff you need - like WiFi antenna and laptop specific sensors. Laptop manufacturers frequently share unused LCD panel wires for other purpose. If you look at the connector at the display panel side, it seems to be few industry standards - not to many.

However do not discard wirings if you want sell the panel. Post model numbers, maybe I will get one for HP/Compaq 6720s. :)

One what? An LCD Controller board? Can I piggy back on that order after I give you my model number? And when do you plan on ordering?

any luck on finding controller boards ? I am stuck with two LCD Samsung laptop screens brand new wrongfully bought for a HP pavilion. Now I have got the correct screen but still stuck with the two Samsung's and don't know where to resell it. only solution I can think of is to convert them into external screens and use it or sell it to make up my losses. for what its worth model number on the two Samsung screens are B154PW0 / AU Optronics made in china

I did this at work.. we had a surplus of TFT LCD panels and we needed to put them to good use (as opposed to writing them off).
Its not as simple as the YouTube gang would have you believe but I've done it. I designed the controller myself. HDMI -> LVDS, and I also implemented the EDID correctly.

These panels interface with what is known as LVDS. There are boards/solutions to convert VGA/HDMI to LVDS... Sparkfun/Olimex if I recall, do these
