I hope that Neotel doesnt become another "Cell C / Virgin Mobile" company.
Yes yes, CDMA is a nice technology to have, and yes it will provide to informal settlements, and all sorts of people of our rainbow nation.
The BIGGER question is, would they be able to provide enough bandwidth, and more than enough to expand in a few years time?
Where is the Fibre? Where is the ADSL?
These two technologies drive the future in global perspective. Yet, Neotel insist that CDMA will 'change the future'...
Will CDMA be 'real-time' communication? For example, if i want to do a remote dekstop to a server which is located in cape town, and i sit in pta, would the delay be less than 30ms ? At the moment i can do this with telkom with no problems...
I surely hope that Neotel doesn't become like iBurst, where you must have signal quality, above 80% in order for the device to work. If the signal is bad, you cant surf, cant make phone calls, cant this, cant that...
With ADSL or Fibre its a physical connection, which can either brake or work, 0 or 1, on or off.
If Neotel doesnt pickup quickly enough, the higher market players will benefit from the Fiber/ADSL connections, like MTN and Vodacom, providing a supperior service to their clients, because they're also building their own infrastructure.
Hope for better things to come in the future...
