Neotel network speed degradation update

@ zerofocus:

The engineer needs more info...thus we need to contact you before 4pm, is this ok?

It's fine, but keep in mind that my router is at home and I'm not. So basically I will have to guess if you ask me something.

That's not quite going to work for Neotel.
Might I suggest you give them a time to call you.
That's what I did when I had a Neotel engineeer calling me.

That's why I told them not to contact me before 4PM.

Waiting for the Techs to get here, drove all the way home from work.

Speedtest before they arrive

Will post one after they have completed tests

@ Neotel Rep, have they done anything to the Midrand tower again?
Speeds have dropped dramatically over night.

Improved speed

Just wanted to let you know that the speed this morning in Bellville is a LOT better. Getting bursts up to 95KB/s, averages around 65 - 70 KB/s.

I'm hoping things stay like they are.

The Tech Guys have come and gone,

No difference to the connection. They tried antennas , checked different locations etc

I still have a question WHY? did it work 2 months ago, and now it doesnt.

@neotel: As per our conversation, you said there have been no connection drops on my account the past 24 hours? Does rebooting the router count as a disconnect? If it does, there is a flaw in your system as I've rebooted at least a couple of times in the past 24 hours.

I am now awaiting a report from the engineer - will let you know.

Last night my device switched to 1X, just as I was going to bed. When I checked again this morning it was still on 1X, so i rebooted the device, and it returned to EVD0. But I was still getting 6 -> 10 second ping times (pinging 196.25.1.1). I got home now, and it seems to be better.

What would the cause of it going into 1X mode, and why wouldnt it go back automaticaly?
