Neotel Speed Tests

Prime Uncapped, PN 432, RSSI: 75

Down: 490kbps
Up: 91kbps
Ping: 324

My speeds have been halved in like a week. Use to get 800-900kbps, even hitting 1.2mbps sometimes.

GREAT Job Neotel.

Wellll...i must admit, i've had some good luck going my way today...8:30 this morning got a phone call from a guy from the complaints department (after sending a complaint about the slow speeds on saturday from their website). He apologised about the slow speeds and said it was something to do with the routers after the very recent upgrades on their network.

Thank you for your e-mail dated 04 July 2009.

As per our telephone conversation, I have investigated this matter and can confirm that the coverage in your area is excellent. The reason this service is not giving you the speeds you were receiving before is because there has been a change in the protocol used to update IP addresses between the server and most routers.

The solution to this problem is to upgrade the firmware of our routers and this will accommodate the new protocol used by DynDns.org. Axesstel R&D (the router manufacturer) is currently busy developing a patch for us to resolve this problem. This should be resolved in 2 weeks, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused to you and we highly appreciate your patience as we deal with this matter.

So maybe there is hope for everyone:)

Wow. Im speechless. I think this is the first feedback anyone has ever gotten!

Wow thats poor. I think it will take some time before I ever move off ADSL again. At least when ADSL works it works well.

In the last 6 years I have had everything from Satellite to Sentech and in the end good old Telkom is the one we hate to love.

@IridiuM - Well i cant agree with you...our telkom line at work as just come back online after being offline for over a month and no-one and i mean no-one knew or could tell us when it would be online! And secondly now that its back online...cant even get it to sync at its rated 4mb/s speed which it was doing before. Actually cant even get it to sync at 1mb/s....

Each of the 4 relates to different packages. Basically depending on your PACKAGE you will get better or worse coverage.

# Voice Services: NeoFlex Voice.
# High Speed Internet Services: NeoFlex Data, NeoGo 1.5G, NeoGo 1.5G EX.
# Voice and basic Internet Services: NeoConnect Lite 99, NeoConnect Lite 199, NeoConnect Lite 299 and NeoConnect 469.
# Voice and High Speed Internet Services: NeoConnect Prime 1G, NeoConnect Prime 2.5G, NeoConnect Prime 5G, NeoConnect Prime 10G, NeoConnect Prime 15G, NeoConnect Prime Unlimited.

Judging by this thread, the line in bold is more than likely the typical package, most people seem to be on a NeoConnect Prime package.....so looks like "Good Indoor" for you.

Where i stay i have BETTER coverage for Neoflex [the pure data package] than Neoconnect [the voice/sms/data package] . So i can only assume they have dedicated towers for different services...
