It's now become a habit of DStv NOT to announce new changes or offers on their homepage, or they post them very late. (Some with their Twitter feed get to see a few of them though..)

Anyway, sometimes it's good stuff so worth sharing info with each other when we find it, since there are at least a few hundred subscribers here.

First item was a mention by one of the MyBB reporters - will edit in a link to the thread if I find it again - Premium via streaming now on offer for R699 pm, only with a 12 month contract.

you complain that they don't announce the changes then you proceed not to say what those three changes are? whats the point of the post?

EDIT : i see that you are adding one reply at a time with the three items when you could have just added all of the changes in the opening post

Next - there's a special on for Compact & Compact Plus; they get 215 SS MotorSport for free for the whole of September.

This is for decoders only, officially, in reality it's working on streaming as well.

Open Window (September 2024)

DStv Compact Plus and DStv Compact customers with a decoder subscription
will get an open window to SuperSport Motorsport (channel 215) at no extra charge.
The open window is from 1 – 30 September 2024.

1. The open window is available at no charge to all active DStv Compact Plus and DStv Compact
subscribers with a decoder subscription (qualifying customers).
2. SuperSport Motorsport (channel 215) will automatically be opened to qualifying customers from
1 – 30 September 2024 (promotional period).
3. The open window to SuperSport Motorsport (channel 215) will automatically be closed by 1
October 2024. No customer action is required.
4. SuperSport Motorsport (channel 215) is only available to qualifying customers via the decoder,
and not when streaming.
5. Catch Up content for SuperSport Motorsport (channel 215) is excluded from this open window.
6. This open window cannot be transferred to another subscription.
7. Qualifying customers who disconnect or cancel during the promotional period will forfeit the open
window.
8. Qualifying customers who downgrade to DStv Family, Access or EasyView during the promotional
period will forfeit the open window.
9. This open window will have no impact to existing Reward Levels for qualifying customers.
10. These terms and conditions are in addition to those governing subscription to the MultiChoice
Service (available on dstv.com)
11. This open window is only available to qualifying residential subscribers in SA.
Version 1.4R (30 August 2024)
 
A new sports channel seems top be coming to channel 249 on satellite, unlikely to be anything else. Only half set-up at this stage.
I suspect it will be for lower packages as well given where they've placed it. Maybe launching after the Paralympics have ended.

My guess - some sort of classic past games channel, and there's lots of new Olympic moments to share.

You are the only one posting additional pointless posts.. get over yourself.. his initial post CLEARLY stated that three items are incoming..
 
Looks like SuperSport are also holding onto channel 199 now. It's just got a typical test-channel name on my Explora since the Paralympics ended (use "All Channels" to see it),
BUT... on an old decoder it's now named "SS Event" ;- )

What are you up to SS?
 
An extra kids channel available for most / all
312 Nickelodeon Africa

Quite similar to the local 305 channel, so often just more choice in the moment.
But not working on 312, you'll find it on the 1005 "F2285" channel for HD (first select "All Channels"), or in the Public bouquet on SD decoders.
Don't yet know if it works on Access or EasyView but looks like it works on all the rest.

Apparently been like this for months, likely a mistake though.
Not available on streaming obviously.

So, for its wider use wonder if it will be a bit like streaming-only 243 SS Play or the SS OTT channels?
 
Oh wow! They are definitely slimming down on their sport offerings if they aren't even showing England test cricket. Over the last couple of years they've stopped broadcasting the likes of Bangladesh, but even England are getting the treatment now.
 
Compact sports upgrade - enhanced SS Action channel now believed included(?)

So, what we know is going on first;
  • Beyond SA (ROA) , the SuperSport Action channel was upgraded with much enhanced content.
  • It shifted its channel number position.
  • Compact viewers there are now getting it as well.
  • There are announcements in their press.

What we're guessing at;
  • It may have had an upgrade here as well, a quick look looks like the same content still.
  • Some parts of the DStv website suggest it IS now part of Compact, some suggest the opposite :rolleyes:
  • There was no channel number shifting here but some possibly related activity suggests it may still be coming.

Nothing in the local press or on our DStv website of course...

Anyone here got Compact , can you confirm / deny?

Looks like the Wild Earth channel that was cancelled (183) is maybe being replaced soon.

Weird that they never replaced that old African fashion channel that collapsed (178) with the earlier-still European version... surely not expensive, too white maybe? 😬
 
This year's The Royal Variety Performance on M-Net?

They've got it listed for Monday night the 30th @ 9pm, but it's dated as the 2023 event. Another careless typo or them being cheap?
IMO it's become too woke anyway, so nah, finally done with this.

(Same event repeats past midnight on Wednesday the 1st)
