Please give me the channel number for this HD universal channel :confused: I have never seen it. They only just announced that it will be available on the 1st of October. I think we have wires crossed...

Why you so sad about this? It's cool that there will be 2x the amount of HD. They will be forced to show more up to date movies because of their marketing plan and the inherent nature of HD (see the preview image thinus posted up of the different new channel schedules).

I'm not sad about it at all, just had hoped for Series HD & another SSHD, but I'm sure those will come at a later stage

75cm Visiosat is where it's at... Will outperform most 90cm dishes, with signal quality and strength.

...and more documentary channels. It's all coming, from what I can gather, but the guys are playing their cards very close to their chest.
 
For once I feel like I'm getting some value from this overpriced subscription

Pfft, no Sci-fi channel, they can keep their R600/month. Oh that's right, Universal Studios (Si-Fi) wouldn't let them interrupt their programming with adds, little repeats, was a high class channel, quite expensive, so they canned that and replaced it with channel O and 3 other crap channels for 1/2 the price and pocketed the other half.

Bastards. Mine's been off since they stopped the sci-fi channel and it will stay that way until they get their act together and give us some quality worth R600 a month. Repeat after repeat *yawn*

But you welcome to pay them like the rest of the suckers. I guess if it's sport you want, you screwed.

It's about time more HD channels were added, but it's a joke NatGeo or Animal Planet weren't one of them.
 
An 80cm dish would be best for reliable reception of these channels, a 60cm dish will be prone to dropouts
 
Seems like Info View is making an impact without even launching yet :D

I think it's awesome! I can't wait for every channel to be in Hd. As it is, I tend to avoid watching stuff on the SD channels as once you have tasted HD, it is very tough to go back to grainy SD.

DSTV relatively speaking is expensive - compared with overseas.
Just check Naspers revenue & profit - they basically have a mint in DSTV.
There is virtually zero competition in Africa to DSTV.
They should be decreasing their subscription as the number increase, the overhead per subscriber drops.

Relatively speaking, DSTV is great value just for Supersport. We get live uninterrupted coverage of every sport relevant to our interests, often in HD. Sky Sports is around £50 and doesn't even include all Premier League games.
