New iBurst Wireless Plus pricing revealed

Subscribers on the following packages will be part of this second migration phase: FreeFlo, Pro Intro, Pro Novice, Pro Classic, Pro Extreme, Pro Addict, Play Intro, Play Special, Play Novice, Play Classic, Play Extreme, Play Addict and Play Special.

Gee, that's alot of "Play" & "Pro" right there.

Sounds like a brothel package, I'll have the "Pro Extreme", Madam Heidi...:D

I'm a little confused or lost, I'm not sure, I could have sworn I posted in this thread this morning, maybe it was another thread, i can't remember so I'm just gonna ask again >.<

When my contract expires in January will I be forced to take out 1 of the new packages if I were to renew or am I allowed to stay on my current 1gig with 64k? Is that included when it is said that we are given the option to remain on our current package?

Everyone will be automatically migrated to the new packages, including the 64kbps for the next 3 months.

During those months, when things have settled, you'll be able to change to your current package.

By then, we should get an idea of what the new "Uncapped" package will have to offer.

So don't do anything until February. You won't be capped, you have nothing to lose.

@Sight, This is from Jannie:

So this is what we're going to do:

1- Everyone will be migrated automatically to the new packages with the higher caps and the lower top-up prices.

2- Everyone who had the 64K service before will get the same VAS for free for the next 3 months.

3- During the 3-month period, we will identify those who do go throttled (not that many) and engage with them, one by one, to see which model they prefer.

In summary, we'll give everyone the VAS for free that will buy us all time to properly find the best way forward for each subscriber.

Thanx so we will just wait and see till then I guess, my dad was just worried that when the contract finished he wouldn't have an option to stay on the current package :)

Will we be able to buy new cap at the start of a month at the lower per GB rate (it's currently R199/GB, will drop to R49/GB on my new package) on the new packages, or do you only have access to the cheaper cap on a pay-as-you-use basis once you have depleted your allocation?

When I log in to check my Bandwidth (Which is messed up), I click on "Purchase Bandwidth" and it gives me the option to buy 1GB at R69 (I'm on 2GB package).

If that option doesn't display when you log in at iBurst, that means they haven't got around to changing your package just yet.

Just don't go buy 1GB at R199, that's a rip off. Just wait awhile.

I dont like the new package!!!!
It is going to cost me A LOT more every month...
Why do we have to be on the 5Gb package to get the VAS anyway?:eek:
In order for me to get the 64kb throttle: 5Gb package + 64kg = R445 + R199 = R644:mad::mad:
but with the old package i am only paying R199 for the 1Gb package plus the 64kb throttle...:D:D
Normally when a company release new package, it should benefit their customers... now iburst is having an indirect way of increasing the price...
I am a student, dont have that much money to spend... i dont understand why iBurst is doing this... trying to make their customers leave them and go somewhere else?:confused:

Guys Jannie said that the VAS only being available for the higher packages wasn't set in stone meaning it could change. He also said befor making any changes he wants to see what the demand will be fro the full speed uncapped after hours VAS and from what he said the uncapped after hours might cost a whole lot less than an arm and a leg :D

My guess is that the end of February will be a good time to start to /rage again if we still aren't satisfied.

They want to get rid of the "power users" (read as: users who actually utilize the connection they pay for) and rather keep their ranks filled with general consumers not interested in mass downloading.

So yes I suppose they are trying to get a large portion of us to sod off, fortunately though a few uncapped adsl solutions just came to the party (with more surely to follow) and I've already said byeBurst via cancellation.

then i guess we will have to wait and see... hope they will bring us a xmas present with some good news:o

No way, you can't leave iBurst, you are the face of the veteran iBurst user on MyBB.

Haha trust me that it wasn't an easy choice.....heck I was willing to run with 128kb uncapped with iBurst if they would have just let me (even in the face of better 256k+ uncapped deals floating about) but I kinda see these 5gb+ restrictions and added costs as a slap in the face against a large portion of us.

If it's any consolation though, I'll still probably keep my modem with a gig of prepaid loaded up for those "just in case" emergencies.

Ai, we are going to miss the *tucked-in* Basjohn :)

So when can we expect the free booze for your farewell party Basjohn ;)

Between Telkom, Vodacom, MTN, Eskom, Banks, Motor retailers ect half of my left arm is gone and got capped just below the right knee! Not much left in me to give to iBurst.

Lol. This is what was said about the uncapped after hours VAS

Nothing is ever cast in stone, so let's see what the demand is once we launch all the other uncapped services. The full-speed after hours one is going to be popular, I believe.

Then the question is how much would that cost. Because I would need at least 2gigs a month for daytime browsing, skype etc. so I would be on the 2gig package at R198pm, my maximum budget for internet is R500pm which is the case with a lot of other subscriber so unless the after hours uncapped VAS costs R300 or less pm It would be out of the question for me and uncapped after hours at full speed for R300pm seems unlikely Never the less I'll wait and see what other uncapped packages come along before I /rage

Jannievanzyl said:
No, your pricing is not out of the ball park. You might just get change from that R500....

I guess this is open for interpretation. Will it cost less than R500 for the VAS OR will it cost less than R500 for the 2gig package + the VAS :?
