New iBurst Wireless Plus pricing revealed

Lets look at the bright side...This is a good solution to piracy, can't download an 11 gig game, would take me forever thus I go out and buy it :p

That just tells me that you've done it before  don't try to make a bad situation look good. Hold your piracy to yourself and leave the internet to us

My brother buys original games, the problem though is that Steam/Patches can be around 2GB downloads. (This was mention here before)

So even if you do it by the book, 2GB, 5GB, 8GB is still not enough for some of us.

When Steve Jobs (CEO of the decade) dropped the iPhone prices to $199,
he sold double the iPhones compared to before.
He said the $199 price was the "Sweet Spot" price for consumers.

I hope Jannie takes a few pointers from Steve Jobs and gives us an "Uncapped" package with a "Sweet spot" price.

The price drops look good at first glance but when you come down to it, they're not that good. For one, the cap should have been doubled. For other, the 64k should have stayed on and the b/w booster prices should be the less for the lower tiers. PPU should be done away with entirely. It seems that instead of taking advantage of increased b/w for international transfers iBurst is merely doing some creative accounting and they have increase caps somewhat - but 15GB is not much for a top of the line offering.

I have no doubts that an uncapped, a/h option will cost at least R1000 extra per month.

As is, it seems iBurst is a lame duck internet connectivity option. If Telkom drops the line rental price, there will be NO reason at all to stay with iBurst, even with these new prices.

With Digichilli announcing R300 256kb+ uncapped.......iBurst's 64 and 128 option (with all its restrictions) is looking dafter than a draft.

I'll admit Jannie came to the party with top-up prices but stories of 64k being "abused" just don't cut it in this Seacom revolution we've suddenly "bursted" into.

Sorry guys my contract rolls around in April :(I will be selling the modem and getting a real internet connection. I don't want to sit around worrying about how much I use. Looks good with Digital Chilli right now but ADSL is moving so fast who knows what will exist by April.

131 + 152 + 300 = 583 gives you uncapped 256 with Chilli, IBurst will "generously" give me a 8gig cap for that, with the "privilege" of paying another 250 for 128 uncapped bolted on.:(

I appreciate that IBurst is the only option for many as there is no ADSL coverage with you yet, and many of you will like the new packages. But I am afraid that the large volume of competition in the ADSL ISP market is going to kill off any users on the IBurst network in metro areas who use 5gig+. If the bottom end users of the metropolitan areas and the farm towns are the the new business model then WELL DONE you are well on your way to succeeding!

Ok this will be my last rant about the new pricing, but dear god I wish I didn't have a contract with IBurst.

+1

My contract runs out in June next year, will look at my options then. Till then, I'll opt to stay on the current 1gb +64kbps throttled...

Yeah, and the 64k/128k extra pay option isn't nice as people are pointing out.

For one, the purchase booster thing is offline much of the time, so you're stuck potentially cut off for good - for who knows how long - maybe over a weekend or longer.

For the caps, all they've done is transfer the 64k portion and made it into a bit of extra b/w at full speed and give you that - but 64k is worth 20GB/month.
They should have added an extra 20GB per month and then done away with 64k, or given the extra few GBs and made 64k inclusive.

True

What was my 5gig package now becomes 8 gigs but without the 64k. So lets say I use between 30gigs and 40gigs monthly I'd still use the same amount of bandwidth so now I'd basically end up paying more for the same product if I buy the 64k.

Sup IBurst Product, thanks for listening to all our ideas and ignoring all of them.

My head hurts when i try to figure out what iburst are actually selling with their new packages.

If you actually payed attention you would of realized your clients want 3 simple things (and not even in 1 package deal)

1)Higher capped speeds
2)Bigger caps
3)An uncapped offering

From what i have figured out you have done the above 3 things, but you have offered it in some sick and contorted way.

Selling bandwidth is easy. But i must applaud Iburst and their team for making it the hardest task known to man.

I doubt you guys will last till the end of 2010. There are only so many grannies out there you can con!

I would have liked to have gotten a stand-alone uncapped 128kbps for R250. In the end though the 2GB package for R200 is still reasonable when compared to Vocadom and MTN where you get 1GB for R289. I'll probably be canceling my Vodacom 1GB contract and moving over to Iburst if Vodacom's pricing doesn't change in the next couple of months.

ADSL prices are dropping but forking out R280 for line rentals before getting any GB's, is what puts me off traveling down that road. I dont want to get uncapped 384kbps for R600pm and have to download like crazy just to get my moneys worth.

Apologies for being so quiet, busy travelling but will put together proper answers Sunday(ish) when I'm back.

BTW, Kickstart will also double in size.

If you do move to iBurst, make sure you have good coverage, borrow a modem from a friend if you have to.

Test, test and test some more before you go iBurst.

Don't sign a contract, go month2month and buy a second hand modem, I'm sure there will be a few around.

The ISP prices are changing on a weekly basis, so don't get locked down on a 2 year contract.

So it's 80MB now. Who would want such a package?

The spam alone I get on a daily basis chows 80MB.

I wish that package would disappear.

Anyone else having problems loading international websites?

I'm throttled (64kbps).

Try Apple for me

yep no international connectivity at the moment

Okay, Apple.com is working now. They're updating their store.

Maybe new prices for Black Friday.

If we had black Friday here in SA, it would be called racist...:D

Sorry guys, but I have just cancelled one of my 5gig accounts. R599 for about roughly 10gigs a month (throttled for most of the second half of the month) just does not compare to 384 uncapped @R750 (business line rental & ADSL384 included). I have managed to download 2gigs in 24hrs since going live on screamer yesterday. So in 5 days i will surpass my average iBurst usage. Looks like I would be able to get around 60gigs a month, of which I doubt I will actually ever need to do. And only costs a measly R150 more....

What DL speeds do you get with Screamer?

This is what I get with iBurst during the day:

330kbps DL
167kbps UL
