New iBurst Wireless Plus pricing revealed

It's a huge deal when the budget says thats all you get. So anybody at ADSL offering sponsorship?

I understand what you are saying and I'm on your side.

Jannie said he wouldn't be able to please everyone, this move was his way of getting rid of the R199, 64kbps, 24/7, downloaders.

Now you have 2 options, continue on your current package and download at 64kbps, 24/7 or pay extra to have that privilege on the new packages.

Ideally, it would be nice to have the new packages and when you get capped,
you continue on 64kbps, but with a limit of 5GB, which will prevent the 64kbps from being abused.

Or as the same as your subscription. So the more you pay for, the more free softcap you get.

Im happy with the new packages :) I only to tolerated the 64k because the top up was so expensive. I'd rather have the full speed and for the R200 I spend on 1 gig currently I can nearly get 4 gig on the new pricing. Now if only I can get a better speed, I'd be even happier.

I can't help thinking "Is that it? Is that the best they can offer"

Now while I and many others are seriously considering jumping ship to ADSL, another question I'd like to ask is, are there any ADSL users who are dying to migrate to iBurst because of these new offerings?

I think not and if not, then iBurst has got it all wrong...

Interesting perspective! I guess it comes back to iBurst's argument that iBurst services a different need in the market? Me, personally, I don't buy that, I think majority of customers use desktop modems, and next biggest is probably USB, but not for portability, because its cheaper.

My highest EVER usage was 9 gigs, I seem to average around 6. This month however I don't think I'm going to use 4, wonder if the metering method has changed 'cause I've been on-line more than average this month.

So based on my usage patterns Your suggestion would work for me. Simply migrating to one of the new packages that suits my usage is going to cost more.(currently on 3gig) So until sumptin more affordable arrives I'll stay right where I am!

My complaint is that who in their right mind in going to take the bolt on 64k if they have a 5 gig package or the 128k bolt on on the 8 gig when you can just buy the the 8 gig or the 15 for the same money hmm.

IBurst is going to use this to justify finally remove the uncapped element stating "nobody wants uncapped see, nobody is buying it". Personally I can afford a significantly higher package but I like not having to monitor my use all the time. I am not a crazy downloader, I do download the occasional episode here or there but frankly if I wanted to bulk downloading the 4meg 550+- deal from telkom with 30 gigs local would be a better idea as I wouldn't DIE of old age.

They had to go and scr*w stuff up again.... I was excited until I realised that the only reason I have I-Burst has been taken away the soft cap/uncapped.... There is not way I will migrate to the new packages if I have to pay an additional R200 just to have what I have now.... Are they mad?!?! If they migrate me then I want out of my contract as it is a breach of terms which I took out.... I really wish that they would think stuff through properly.....

I agree with you. I am staying right where I am. I am not willing to pay more for less. And if they auto migrate my account and they are not willing to move my account back withing 20 minutes of my call all hell will brake loose! Not going to sit for a week or a mounth waiting for them to fix the problem . I know that some months I can use more cap than others but there is no way that I can connect with Iburst and only use 1-2gb a month.

If you look at how media is changing it is impossible to still use such pathetic caps. When you look at gaming you buy a game and withing a week there will be a patch out. Lets take call of duty 4 for an example. When those patches came out it was a total of 1.1-1.7 patching. The size of those patches together equaled 414mb. Thats not too bad.

Now take Call of duty world at war. The first patch alone equaled 325mb. Thats already almost as much as all the previos games patches together! If I put all of the patches for Cod: world at war together it reaches 3.7gb!

Now some of you might say then wait for the patches to be released on magazine dvd's like PCFormat or NAG. For a online gamer this is impossibe since it takes about 2-3 months for the patch to be put on there and by the time you intall it on your pc a new patch has already been released.

The same goes for world of warcraft patches that easily reach 1gb per patch. Then lets not forget one of the huge culprits of cap draining the dreaded STEAM. This can eat through cap like no other app I have ever used before. More and more games are also going over to steam which equals even more cap usage.

This is only one way to show you how apps and games can eat through your cap and why I feel that people telling me I can do with 2gb a month are retards. I am sure that a lot of people are going to give me a bunch more crap about how I can pay more for better service. Then sure, give me the damn money for it and I will gladly do so...

Yep, we're definitely a third-world country, with third-world service trying to survive in a world that is slowly leaving us behind.
I'm a developer, subscribed to MSDN. We get to have releases earlier than the average user so that we can be prepared for the official releases, except that they are only available via download. 3.7 - 4.2Gb per disk. There is no way that we can do that here, so we slip further and further behind the rest of the world.
I don't need to repeat what Telkom's monopoly has done to the business opportunities that we miss out on when pigeon post is quicker than our apparent 'broadband' providers. Just look at the controversy around SALT. No wonder we try and hold on to 64k softcaps. We're starved.

No wonder that I considered broadband as a valid reason for emigration. I get jealous when I speak to friends in other parts of the world who have blazing fast connections and then to add insult to injury they look at me as if I've lost it when I talk about cap.

Yep. I've got a mate in Oz. 22mb pipe, and we have *gasms when we hear about 4mb offerings here.

+1 luckily I can download all that stuff at work. but if I had to do at home I'd cry. then I will most definately complain about the soft cap issue too

Lets look at the bright side...This is a good solution to piracy, can't download an 11 gig game, would take me forever thus I go out and buy it :p
