New iPhone 3G S here in July

Thats your view - I've used them all and the iPhone is the only phone I will get in future - whether the case changes or not - I'm on board for the new one. How can u say WM offer better touch phones - their interface is horrendous and the touch part hardly works without a stylus.

I dunno. Past experience led me to believe that it could take up to six months to get a handset approved for use.

After owning one for two weeks, after which I gave it to my 16 year old cousin. I admit its the best ipod ever made, but as a phone its a massive let down in both form and functionality. No thank you, guess its a nice phone for the 'average' user but as a bussiness device, or for anyone who wants to on the go send a proper email its an absurdly uncomfortable device, also its feature set is underwhelming compared to similiary priced devices.
nice toy, a teenagers dream. But for the all bussiness guy that couldnt care less about music on his phone and who actually just want functionality without the spectacular "oh my gosh is that an Iphone...ahh!!" I wont advise it...or atleast not for over R3000 grand.
 
As someone who carries a iPhone 3G ver 3.0 Beta phone, Windows Mobile 7 Beta phone (Touch HD), and a Symbian Series 60 v5 phone, I can venture a somewhat informed opinion here : the iPhone wins, but just. Its all down to whether you want a capacitive or resistive touch screen. My preference is capacitive, because I find it faster and easier to use FOR ME, and I couldnt be arsed using a stylus. Exchange 2007 integration is also another biggy : the iPhone is just so much better at synching Mail, Contacts and Calendars with Exchange servers. The devil is in the details : with the iPhone you can query Active Directory for company wide telephone numbers straight from the contacts page, so you don't have to pollute you Contacts list with work people (provided of course your company maintain the GAL properly). The iPhone is also far more usable when it comes to watching media or listening to music while on the run, so if you travel a lot, its a no brainer. I also find the iPhone handles handover between 802.11 and WCDMA a lot better than the others, without all the stupid prompting and confirming that comes with Win Mobile 7 and Symbian.

I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my Omnia HD... 720p home movies from the phone. Sheez.... The possibilities are endless :D

Dam, saw it in one of the vodacom flyers a while back, said "coming soon" heh, i know it only got released the other day in other countries, was hoping it would come out soon here too because im due for upgrade! Prob will have to pay in quite a bit though on this phone.

Nokia has a lot of options for companies. But just on that one point about contacts. You can use groups. Make a group called "Company" and add them to it.

New here at this website(its so nice this is a SA website,you seriously cannot share your pain about extremely expensive,super slow internet to South Koreans).Regarding the iPhone line,I really do love it but because of its vast range of apps available(well at the US store atleast)and its smooth UI and unparalleled touchscreen.Though in the hardware department,many other smartphones have either matched it or trumped it(the Touch HD is so cool),but 3G S(Ahem,apple?Could've been more innovative with the name)sure to hit it up the smartphone ladder again.I wish ed they were going to put a higher res screen or atleast an OLED screen.With Vodacom in mind,I don't expect them to put the pay in price at what Apple said it would be for US,they probably going to give it us at their trademark can-you-please-put-this-on-5-credit-cards price.I'm not sure about the launch date but its possible it will be released in July coz it is being released next week for US.And in fact the iPhone(and many other phones)are really worth $300 out of factory or so but when add other costs to it(advertising,carrier deals,profits etc)it adds up really fast.One of my problems with Vodacom is if I were to buy it through contract that they increase the monthly data incl.250mb of data pm is way too little for an iPhone,with Safari and streaming videos etc those megs disappear like a magic trick.I was using over 1gig pm on average.What you say,Voda?500mb?1gig?. . .or even 2gig?(and in my fantasy world,uncapped yay!)Though that could affect Voda's choice on allow tethering.

I to own an iPhone, Diamond and a symbiam phone. And the iPhone wins hands down in my opinion. The iPhone S will definitely address issues that users moaned about, but personally I don't think they have changed the phone enough to warrant a upgrade.

All the claims of being x2 as fast I don't really get how much faster you want the phone to be, it is perfectly fast as it is. I guess maybe for rescource intensive apps?

I actually used to be a iPhone basher, after never using one I thought it just seemed like a toy and more of a gimmick than a everyday phone. That all changed until I used one, it truly opens your eyes as to why it is such a popular phone. It is just so easy to use and I guess the best word I can use is "fluid". It is not as complex as my Diamond, but I actually prefer that. Windows mobile for me just falls short on a number of levels when it comes to ease of use. The big plus is indeed the screen on the iPhone and how easy it is to use and how well it responds to touch, something which my Diamond is truly useless at.
I guess it comes down to preference at the end of the day.

It doesn't. But why does it need it? So that you can play highly compressed mp4 movies on a tv screen?

I'm sure it will look just....um....awesome. And can you tell me how many times have you really used that feature?? :p

Go and search for the MvixPVR....you'll be surprised. :)

the July with no date gave it away. esp because Apple gave a specific date. either way, didnt expect it in July, so will be very suprised if it's here
