If it happened once, I may understand. But it happens every single time a post is negative about Apple.

No it happens every single time someone comes trolling.

People can be as negative about Apple as they like but don’t talk outright drivel and feel offended when taken to task.

The typical troll labels alternatives and workarounds presented to them as ‘coping’ or ‘making excuses’ or ‘why does it need a workaround’ instead of accepting the input in good faith.

That’s what gets people’s backs up - genuine attempts to help are ridiculed by the troll.

Agreed - but I do hope he gets other, objective advise somewhere from people that won’t insult him at the same time.

I know that I’ve got a few places I can chat about certain Apple choices with people that have an opinion of their own. And it’s great not to have the same old boring phrases as answers … which are a bit stale tbh

I don’t understand what the term objective is doing in this statement?

He bought (allegedly) an Apple product and needs Apple advice

Objectivity doesn’t come into play. There’s a way to do things and that’s simply the way it is.

You can’t impose other magical ways you want something to work in the face of how it works.

Objectivity is irrelevant. There’s either a working solution or there isn’t.

Maybe that’s been your problem with it all along, looking for answers that simply don’t exist and then because they don’t people are apparently not objective.

Why do you think that everyone that has an Apple device with an issue is lying about it or bought it purely to come & tell you it’s junk? It’s like your mind can’t comprehend Apple & issue. There’s a reason people study the psychology of an Apple user … and you’re it.

Regarding objectivity, I’m not talking specifically about this poster. I mean in general. You can’t tell me for a second that you feel you’re not bias towards Apple? I can bring up 10 issues and you’ll say ‘oh, that’s a non issue!’ You defend them with every inch of your being. You’ll use codecs they use (HEIC) and scoff at anything they don’t (AV1). You align to what they have out and their decisions.

If I wanted any advice on what gadget to buy, I’d probably exclude whatever you said . Not because I think you have little knowledge, but because I think you can’t take a step back and look at things through non-Apple eyes

I’ve explained it to you before, when you’ve gone all in on Apple other things are not worth considering and therefore may as well not exist.

If you never had any intention to buy or use it, why even think about it?

Once you go Mac, you don’t go back. Why should I care about Windows machines when I have no intention of ever using one again?

Make it make sense.

What you’ve done is when everyone points out an issue, you tell them :

‘There is no issue. You’re the issue. You’re a troll. Apple is the best. You don’t go back after Apple. Why would you want to do xyz? I’ve never had an issue. Blame someone else for that - it’s not Apple. They don’t need that feature because no one uses it yet. It’s a non issue ’

That sounds a bit bias to me?

It’s not just Macs, as I don’t even know much about them and don’t argue. But iPhone or Apple TV which I own and have a daily decent idea of phones & streamers, you’ll still say the same thing

Change Mac to iPhone, iPad, AirPods, Apple TV, etc and now read it again with comprehension.

Now it should make sense.

It’s not about bias, it’s about context.
 
If I just take the BS that you and others push about the latest iOS on 5 year old models? It’s true, but not true at the same time.

iOS17 differs model to model. iPhone 13 Pro is a maximum of 2 years old and it can’t limit charging, it can’t get battery stats, standby is a joke on phones without Always On … and even Always On doesn’t make it because of battery issues. But Standby doesn’t work even though it’s charged? Every model receives different features and it’s not all hardware.

The same as TVoS - each generation is different. Apple TV 4K 1st gen can’t FaceTime … 2nd gen can’t HDR10+ … 3rd gen does everything.

Can you tell me what features will be left off iOS 18 or TvOS 18? Truth is no one knows what features they’ll lack that’ll make your 1 year phone ‘old’

So while it’s great to say Apple is amazing and even old devices get the latest iOS, it’s not really a fair statement.

My Pro has 16 GB of RAM.
With just 4 tabs of Chrome open and 4 tabs of TradingView open, RAM usage is 9 GB.

Does this mean a 13" M2 Air with 8GB will not be able to handle this? I also plan to have Word and Excel open so this will add to the memory usage.

1. Mouse scroll wheel is inertia based. When I scroll the wheel slowly the page scrolls incredibly slowly. This is not the case on windows.
2. Shortcuts for cut, copy and paste. The command key is literally next to the C and X key. Making it very difficult to execute with one hand.
3. Uninstalling a program is a nightmare. You have to search for all related files yourself.

I'm sure to find more. Here's another Notepad++ which is one of my favourite programs is not available on Mac. And I cant find a suitable alternative.

How many of you are running Windows on your Macs?

VS code is a crappy general purpose text editor. A bit slow for that.

Use Safari. Chrome is a memory hog I only have installed as a backup and I use it at work because Edge sucks even more.

Still, I doubt that 8GB will handle Safari, TradingView, Word and Excel.
Does the 13" come with 16GB in SA?

The 13" M2 Air has got good specs. Why on earth is there only 8GB of RAM?
