I hope I dont get flamed for this but here goes. Can someone please explain to me how I get this news server thing, the best one possible. If its possible can someone do it like this
1. Download this program xxxxxxxxxxx
2. Go to this (xxxxxxxxxxxxx) website and do the following for whatever you are looking for.
3. Open xxxxxxxxxxx program and do the following ................

Please, I beg of someone to just help me with this as I read on this topic from numerous sources and still I cant figure it out. Also, are these news servers free or what? Is it possible to only download from local?

1) Download alt.binz
2) Check if you are on SAIX or IS cap(I dont know how to explain)
3) In atl binz set up a new server.
for saix: server:news.saix.net -- 2 con's
for IS: server:news.is.net -- 2 con's
4)Go to NZBMatrix.com(or google) and search for your NZB.
5)Download and drag into Alt.Binz
6)Click connect

I have done all of the above. When I setup a new sever must I add server:news.xxxx.net under the name or where? When I add it under Adress and I make the connections 2, then it does not want to connect. I dont really want to download now, I just want to test adn see if it works. I am using a Vodafone 3G card from Vodacom. Also, what do I add under the port and name tabs?

I doubt if the news servers will be available via 3G. AFAIK it's only for adsl users.

Seriously, 3G and News Servers are NOT a good idea! Unless your name is Donald Trump. Gonna be massively expensive.

But if you insist, get yourself an Astraweb account. They are a full international news server and will work with 3G.

Nah, I just wanted to see if the downloads will even begin. But, will it work on a normal adsl line with my settings above regarding the name etc?

If you are trying to connect to news.saix.net or news.is.net on an ADSL line, it can take up to ten minutes to make a connection because the servers are so overloaded.

Easynews

Hi
Can you guys give me your opinion on Easynews?
There you can search for what you want, zip them, and download it in 1 convenient zipped file. I have been with them for 7 years, but recently their daily updates seems to be lacking.
Is there any other Usenet service that can give me the same method of usenet experience?
The main reason why I like them, is that I can access them from any computer without downloading and installing 2 or 3 programs.

Thanx

They seem a bit expensive to me. Would you rather pay $30 a month for that convenience (with a 150 Gb limit) or would you rather install the two programs (carry them on your flash disk) and pay $11 a month for unlimited access?

Also, when I use this program that I had to download, will it use my local cap from telkom with telkom adsl line and as an ISP? On hat server must I connect if telkom is the isp?
EDIT: Ok here goes, hope someone can help me. I have a telkom adsl line, they are the isp also. I do not have any international cap left. I am trying to connect with server:news.saix.xxx, will this work or what should I do? Hope someone can help me please

Yes, if Telkom is your ISP then you must use the news.saix.net address.

If you have already used up your international cap then it will start using your local only.

Leave it running a few minutes until it makes a connection.

It looks like iot made a connection now, but still not downloading, will give it a few minutes. Thank you very much for the help, I really appreciate it.
EDIT: I just checked it again, in the bottom tab it keeps jumping from downloading to connecting. There where it says #, under that are a number 1 and under that number 2 and both of them keep on hopping between downloading and connecting. Is this normal?
