no international bandwidth

I think the routes are screwed / degraded rather than dead, I get the same symptoms as when my MTU is too large. At stages I get data, then times out again, but it takes ages until my proxy gives (110) Connection timed out
 
if the proxy times out its not your MTUhowever if you have trouble getting the data the proxy sends it could be
 
Just saying the symptoms are similar (in my case), I also battle to retrieve many (200+) IMAP mail headers from USA server. It blocks after the first couple of headers. [Trying to clear the spam box :)]

Dialup ultimately through IS can reach SourceForge, from iBurst I can't :( Must bloody happen when I want to try out IPCop compared to SWE2...
