Nokia 6110 Navigator

Also with active background, is it possible to show the shortcuts but not the calendar? can't figure that one out either.

Go to Menu/Settings/Phone Settings/General/Personalisation/Standby mode/Active Standby Apps

Is it possible to adjust the Volume on the clock alarm or is it, like the Samsung D600, stupidly linked to the ring tone volume? I used to keep my ring tone on the lowest volume so that I didn't get blasted every morning.

Also with active background, is it possible to show the shortcuts but not the calendar? can't figure that one out either.

The alarm starts of all nice and soft, then it gets louder and louder, and louder and louder and LOUDER. Works quite well

Thanks, will try it.

I noticed a strange thing today. The date was set to 24/08. I got the phone on Tuesday 21/08 and looked through the history of calls and all the calls show the correct time AND date up until yesterday (SATURDAY). Yesterdays and todays calls all show the date of 24/08.

I thought maybe I had set the phone to 12 hour and had am/pm mixed up, but time is 24hour and the times are always correct. It shows a call I received this morning on the list before one I received on Friday afternoon. Same date, correct time.

It appears as though the phone is not 'recognising' weekend, but can't be sure. There is a setting to set 'workdays' but obviously this should not influence the time/date of the phone. These are set to Mon-Fri. I have now set the phone to the correct date.

Has anyone else experienced this? Please check your date and let me know? I'll be keeping an eye on it this week, but will probably only be able to confirm over the weekend again. Very odd.

My 6110 occasionally can't detect the microsd. When this happens I can't access anything on the card. To resolve this, I have to remove it and then re-insert it. I'm using the original card that came with the phone. Has anyone experienced the samething or similar. Most importantly, how to fix it permanently.

Never had the problem with the mem card.

Still can't get rid of the calendar appointments on active standby. You can select the apps that are available but active standby is on, it shows the calendar appointments for the day and upcoming ones, even if calendar is not one of the apps in that list.

The most annoying part of this is that these cover the background which is a picture of my little boy!!

Got mine yesterday from mtn. This phone is brilliant! Well, so far that is. The Service provider only had 2 in stock! Apparently mtn is recalling all stock like mentioned above. I got mine on a 2 yr warranty, so any faults and i can send it back for an exchange, hopefully with the improved edition. But no problems so far.

If I turn off my phone, and then turn it on again. The phone does not recognise the memory card. I can't select anytihing from the memory card.

I bought a 2GIG card & works fine. Got a ton of music on it already.

Has anybody been able to find the Nokia Mobile Holder CR-48 locally?

Nope, went hunting for goodies over the weekend. Couldn't even find a protective cover.

More strange date issues. Again the clock didn't change to Saturday. So I did a couple of tests. Set the time back to Fri at 23:59, switched off the phone. When I turned it back on, hey presto, the date was correct. Tried again with the phone on, no problem. So reset it back to the correct time and what do you know? Sun morning calendar showed Saturday. Did the same above tests again, and no problems. Seems to only be a weekend thing, but cannot find any one else reporting this online?

One more strange issue. Not sure if anyone has played around with the message reader. I get loads of SMS's from FNB, and yesterday got one and pressed the message reader key. Normal voice started and then when it started reading the actual message, read in French. Don't speak french so don't know if it was translating or what it was actually reading. All other messages read fine in English. Hasn't happened with any others, but it was just plain weird.

Checked mine and it also read the message in French, I think. Go to Settings/Speech & change Language detection to Off. That took care of mine.

The time has dawned for my cell c contract to be upgraded( actually its been dawning for the past 6 months now- nothing really grabbed me). Now I'm faced with a choice.

6110 navigator or n73 music edition. For a guy who dosent have a strong inclination towards gps nor music, which one should I go for?

Now cell c direct tells me the phone dosen't come supplied with a memory card. Does that sound normal to you? Is this the case with other suppliers?
And what exactly is on the memory card?

Nokia 1110?

Well, my experience so far with the Navigator I bought on Saturday......

The good:

Stable HSDPA connectivity. Speedtest this morning @ 5:00:
1835 kbps (averages 1200 and up during working hours)
353 kbps

The GPS works really well. Must admit I haven’t used GPS for a long time, but it works and I even have connection while indoors (close to window). My previous experiences with a dedicated unit some years ago weren’t that good.

The 2 megapixel camera takes better quality pictures than my other 2 megapixel phone camera. Has flash and better zoom as well.

Speaker clarity and sound is good, GPS voice really clear and loud.
2 cameras, video in front, and all the usual bells and whistles, mp3, radio etc.

Symbian OS S60 rel. 3.1

Voice quality and reception is excellent.

The not so good:

Gets all smudgy and fingerprinty real fast.

Do not like the closeness and feel of the dialling numbers.

Need both hands to flip the phone open, maybe just needs some practice. Might even be a good thing as it feels like quality.

Overall quality of phone seems good and rugged, except for the USB port “door” which I think will not last long as I use it a lot.

@ the-pacifier

Mine came with Route66 software and maps pre-installed and ready setup on a 512MB mem card. IMHO the GPS "might" one day come in more handy than music capability?

Cannot comment on the battery yet as I mostly keep it on charge while in use as a modem and have only used it for a hour or less in GPS, but it seems good and normal. So far I am extremely happy with the phone. Not sure about the phone problems and recall as mentioned earlier, will see and use the warranty if so. Bought it at Game and they still have a couple in stock.

Thanks, can't believe I missed that one. Another quirk... installed DivX player v0.88 and everytime it loads it plays an intro theme at max volume, even with phone on silent. anyway to stop this?

Hi, Does anyone know what version of the Route 66 software is on the 6110 Navigator??
