And another three centuries as an excuse.
How many educators could have been trained and proper education infrastructures set up in the last 17 years if this ANC Government Goons spend the available funds where it is needed most instead of stealing, defrauding and wasting the resources the way they do. Now, do you also believe that it is Verwoerd's fault that the ANC does it the way they do? or is it a case that most if not all the ANC leadership and their public services operators do not have the qualifications to produce because they only had Bantu Education?

Black Teachers today do not have grade 12.!!! you not getting it. No black person in this country has ever in the history of South Africa been educated higher than bantu education, thanx to Verwoerd and besides that ,you do not need education, education is only for stupid white, coloured and Indian people.

Rubbish, the effect of apartheid will vanish when people decide to sit down and actually work hard. Whatever happened to government sponsored teaching colleges where mandatory periods of post 2 years are required as part of the payback? Incentivise!

I agree with MegasXLR, had the government prioritized education back then, by now things could be in a far better state. That would have a knock on positive effect for the entire economy. But no, they felt the need to instead concentrate on AA which resulted in a massive brain drain, as well as waste money on corruption and bribery.

So tell me, when you were at school did your parents ever help you with your homework? Do you think you would have been at a disadvantage if they had been illiterate?
When you were at school did you have a good breakfast, lunch and dinner? Did you have electricity to do your homework by? Do you think you would have been disadvantaged without any of these things? When you were a child did look around you and see that the people with dark skins do manual labor while people with pale skin drive fancy cars and wear suits and are bosses, do you think this would effect you psychologically, your self-esteem and your sense of your place in the world? Even though apartheid is over the effects will resonate for a long time. It's our legacy.
black children cannot get worldclass education because their parents can't afford it because their parents did not get quality education because of apartheid,therefore the effect of apartheid is felt from generation to generation ...the effects of apartheid cannot disappear because verwoerd is dead,apartheid was not designed for temporary incapacity,
We get that, but its the government's job to step in and help, which they havent been doing. They could have provided almost all children with a decent education had they not wasted billions on corrupt tenders, bribes, kickbacks and useless arms deals. The people have only themselves to blame for voting the ANC in again and again.
They havent done much to help poverty stricken black people in 17 years, what makes you think they ever will? They simply dont care about the masses.
EDIT: Kgabogk, no one is defending Verwoerd or apartheid. But we are tired of seeing apartheid used as an excuse for the ANC's poor performance. Stop blaming the past, just get on and fix it.

Anyway I disagree with your point, as much as i hate AA it isn't the only reason for the brain drain.
By introducing more players in the job market you create less jobs.
If their was no AA or BBE or whatever then you would have one of two situations: Either lots of newly skilled unemployed black people or lots of unemployed historically skilled white people.... either way you have a lot of unemployed skilled people.
All AA did was create an artificial environment where you had a lot of young barely skilled black people in high demand, and an oversupply of skilled white people.
When you use the term "Brain drain" you have to realise that it includes a lot of black people as well that either moved to the private sector or left the country (and their are quite a few)
Then reasons are many...more often then not when your talk about brain drain you are talking about higher salaries overseas
i also don't think the ANC is doing a good job in education,but it's not their mess,they are just not good in fixing this mess,we all know it was a well designed mess,the problem here is that the beneficiaries of this mess are well educated and therefore very good in debates,they want to lay all the blame on a party that only came to power in 1994

Simple answer - if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If the ANC can't fix the mess then hand it over to the DA.
By brain drain I mostly mean left the country - MILLIONS of white people have. Hell, I did, for 3 years before I came back. At least 25% of my honours class, that I know about, have emigrated. Which means all of the tax Rands spent educating us is completely wasted. Thats what I mean by the brain drain, and it could have been avoided. The upside would be a much healthier economy, although yes transformation would be slower. But then everyone knows transformation would take time, I fail to see why AA is any better since as mentioned elsewhere, it isnt enough to help the majority of black people. Had they focused on job creation and education, then by now transformation would be well underway, the brain drain would not have occurred, and the whites would not have so much ill will towards the ANC. But no, the ANC wanted a quick fix.
Its not their mess but they do have to fix it because they are the democratically elected government. No excuses.
Beneficiaries? Not by choice, plus I would far rather a healthy South Africa in which everyone really is equal.
We lay the blame on them because in 17 years, I'm not sure there has been any improvement at all. Thats enough time for an improvement to happen.

There's a difference between defending Verwoerd & apartheid vs. pointing out an obviously ludicrous statement by someone in a position where they're supposed to know better. Children especially tend to believe what these people of authority say to them, so they perpetuate these falsehoods and use them as excuses instead of facing & resolving the real issues.
Verwoerd's apartheid may be the most hated thing for them, but that does not excuse such blatant lies from supposedly educated people.
Who defends Verwoerd or Apartheid? We question the mentality or logic of the persons or our current leadership using history as an excuse for their own current shortcomings today of which they themselves are responsible for. it's like the rest of Africa blaming slavery for their problems even today.
Vewoerd had reasons for what he did at the time
Apartheid was implemented as a solution for those same reasons
Both are gone and gladly so
Yet the same mindset and struggles remain.
Blaming Verwoerd or apartheid for the current education system, Aids, White braindrain is a massive fail and as such all I can agree with is that the people doing it achieved the Verwoerd Bantu education system diploma and have done nothing else since then. If so then Yeah, blame poor Verwoerd for their self inflicted dilemma
