Nvidia GeForce NOW SA launch

Thanks, looks like they're able to help :D

Thank you, should I join the waitlist first or can I just send through my details?
An update here for those wanting to join.

Instead of just telling me to join the waiting list Rain got me to send them all my details just to be able to tell me that they can't do anything for me and I must join the waiting list.

What would be much more helpful is to come up with a blurb to say if you're not a rain customer join the waiting list and we'll get back to you when there is space.

Hi Jettafreak

Please check your PM, we have responded.
Can you please be clear about what you’re doing? Do you only have slots for Rain contract clients? I shared my email address with you earlier today and you confirmed you don’t have any remaining slots. So what’s the real story?

Hi @Foxhound5366

We have responded to you via PM.
Thanks for the response, but I’m sure others here would appreciate transparency about what you’re looking for as well. It doesn’t need to be a secret does it? You’re piloting a gaming technology which a lot of tech enthusiasts are excited about, and you almost immediately sold out on the initial slots more than a month ago. Here’s to hoping we get more slots soon :)

I must say their communication has been trash. Definitely wasting our time when they could just be forthright with the information.

So what did they say? You have to sub on a 5G modem for a slot (or jump the line)?

In terms of what?
Quality or Communication?
Oops. I thought I quoted the below

Nvm.

1.2 GFN Service Providers. The GFN service may be provided to you by NVIDIA or by a GFN Alliance Partner, and the party that is providing the service will determine the details of the offering, the terms and the membership fees that are applicable to your use of GFN and the payment terms.

So rain can pretty much do whatever they want in terms of who gets access.

Meh, I was considering selling my gaming rig as I play maybe an hour or two every second month. Would've just replaced it with a semi decent laptop and GFN. There is no chance in hell I'll sign up for any of their other services though.

Oh I see.
Aside from Nvidia themselves, Rain are the only ones who have implemented a cap on subscriptions.
All the other alliance partners just allow more subscriptions even when they've got no capacity which obviously leads to lengthy queue times.

Exactly, would you rather have a happy customer base or constant rotation due to frustration. If the current cap is profitable, it's just now a question of scaling up with more hardware and maintenance decent usage.

I think the current cluster is underutilized. We have zero queues while people in Europe and NA are crying about queues.

To me, it reads like Rain is giving priority to existing clients who have a contract with them? Or not? If I have fiber, why would I sign up with them just to gain access to GFN?

You over thinking it. They actually make more money off GFNow for non rain but I would think it does them no good to over subscribe. It's a subscription service so if folks are happy with the "time", you are only going to start rotating subscribers by increasing queues and having customer leave and new ones join. It's not like a content sub, this is a hardware sub so the "sweet spot" is a constant user base that grows and you can easily motivate for more kit as players join but there is no benefit in over subscribing.

Said before , it's a numbers game and likely Rain underestimated the demand or played it safe. I reckon the kit is not cheap amd it is a purchase vs a lease model as its quite specialized so they need to directly correlate thier Capex vs Opex. It also does them no good NOT to expand when there is demand but it's a hardware scale, not as simple as scaling a cloud enviro.

I understand your points about demand and oversubscriptions. It seems like existing Rain subscribers with contracts are given preference on the waiting list? Have I misunderstood this?
