Official Fallout 4 Thread

finally figured out how the perks tree works.... could never understand what the levels were all about on the left, i thought it was what level i need to be.... now i know its the level of the perk i.e. strength level 1+, charisma 1+

I had the same thing, the game doesn't really explain it very well

i watched this last night which was great but this was before the game was release so there is a lot of guess work as to what the perks are but it will get you in the right track

NOTE: an hour long

I've been playing for 8 hours now, and must say, having the terminal and lockpick perks early on helps a massive deal in finding seriously good loot at the beginning.

I'll probably consider using that carry-weight "mod" aka "cheat" , i absolutely HATE micro managing my inventory in these sort of games. Having to run back and forth to constantly dump my inventory is so immersion breaking, especially when i'm in the middle of exploring some underground complex and suddenly i am overweight....

Especially now with all this settlement resource building, you -have- to literally pick up everything you see if you want to get into that.

Bethesda is particularly guilty of making inventory management such a PITA in all their games. Hell Skyrim i couldn't live without my companion aka "mule" because of all the crap you end up picking up.

I thought I had to get 10 points in each attribute before I could take the perks and I am level 10 now. Was wondering why I was so rubbish.

I had to google the whole power armour repair thing. Just couldn't work out what was going on with that rack.

I've now sunk 26 hours into the game and am absolutely lovely it!I've become a sucker for crafting and am spending alot of time looking for loot(Bloody adhesive, argh) I'm level 25 and have a kickass combat rifle, sniper rifle and 44. revolver. I will be looking to start crafting some armor soon but need some more levels. Game is seriously impressive and my only major gripe are the occasional crashes. Done some of the main story and its awesome, very well crafted.

Vegetable Starch breaks down into adhesive. Can make it at the cooking work benches. Takes 3 corn, 3 muttfruit, 3 tatos, and 1 purified water.

Water purifier. :p

So basically use the water purifier to make clean water? How do I get the water from a river though? Is there a special container I need to use? I've never really been into the crafting thing so thanks for all the advise!

You need to put the water purifier in the river and connect to a generator on the bank.

Please tell me this settlement building is optional to play the game?

Will get the game later in December, looking actually forward to the weapon crafting/modding and exploring, but reading this whole "minecraft" thing makes me want to reconsider.

You don't need to do it, takes a good while to get the hang of. I use my settlement alot for storing junk and crafting/modding.

It's optional, it is really not that big a deal and as bad as people make it out to be. You can take as little or as much time with it as you want. Like some have said it is nice to scrap a few things and to make a few useful things. It takes a few minutes to build a simple home where you can have your own bed to recover. Also nice to get purified water and the best part is fill the house with cabinets and store **** so you don't have to carry it all the time.

Well, for me it's kind of disappointing, considering I was looking forward to the settlement building aspect. It just isn't done well, imo.

I'm sure mods for it will be forthcoming, though.
