Official On Digital Media launch date confirmed

All i use my DSTV for really, is the sport. If they are able to offer supersport channels (propably never happen) in future then i will definately move over.

I'm just really interested to find out what channels they will be offering. I think this will be a hard market for ODM to break into as most people have DSTV, and they are not exactly over the moon about the service with repeats and all. Plus, Multichoice has all the main channels covered already. This is definitely going to be an uphill battle for them, but I hope they succeed cause the SABC didn't when they tried to enter the pay-tv field several years ago.

I agree, DStv has many of the most popular shows and if they have an exclusive deal with the supplier, ODM may not convert as many current DStv subscribers.

My 3rd tuner slot in my DM8000 is primed and ready - connected to a Moteck motor. No extra box no extra dish. Just need to get my hands on a subbed card.

The usb slot in the decoder sounds promising.
All my DSD990 decoder does is get insanely hot and attract the mozzies.
Cannot wait until they reveal their channels tomorrow.

Le^stat: No mention on any HD content
I wish these guys would learn... Half the planet is buying HD compatible TV's

So most people have DSTV and half the planet is buying HD TV's????

hmmmmmm...... I didint wanna be the one to burst your bubbles.......... but we are over 45million people in SA. 1,7million DSTV subscribers, and I am sure only a couple of thousand has HD TV's.

But ja.... lets all hold thumbs for tomorrow and hope ODM really changes the TV experience in SA.

I wonder how many of the 1,7million DSTV suscribers are:

a) on the Premium package
b) on the Compact
c) on the Select
d) on the R20/month Easyview

?????

I wanted to find out about all this, but never really found much information. What satellite footprints cover SA, and what channels could you potentially get here.

Great to hear competition building up in the broadcasting space. Your target market is great, but if you guys really want a share of the MultiChoice premium customers, you need to target specific groups, i.e. SA movies, Bollywood, Nigeria etc, to a greater extent. As with sport, you don't want to leave that out, exclusivity or not you have to find your way round this offering.

If they include Hustler and Blue Hustler Europe they will get at least 500000 guaranteed:D
