Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

Thx for the info Gareths... I'm also going to go for the Paranoid rom.

I think I'm going to start tonight.

On Paranoid, for love or money, I could not get my MMS / SMS sending sorted out. Running RocketROM ICS XXLQ3 v7. Its been good to me!

Finally some love for our Notes :)

CM10 - Jelly Bean - Preview.

Just finished flashing now and busy restoring apps via Titanium Backup.
There are issues but from what I can pickup in the thread they can be dealt with.

Biggest blow here is no Butter yet. Running CM10 on my HD2, Asus Transformer and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and going to miss Butter. It will come though. I just know it will :)

still running kingdroid v5.1.1 with gl_notecore v7 extreme. best touchwiz rom available in my opinion.

Can't help myself. I was on the verge of trading my Note for a Nexus purely so I can get updates faster. It's a problem. I know.

Only real prob I have encountered so far is A2DP is not working. This is a bummer cause I love waking up to MP3 in the AM via my Philip bluetooth dock. Tomorrow AM gonna be cr@p having to listen to music via the phone speaker.

I installed it earlier but haven't had a real chance to play around with it. Seems smooth enough transition wise though. Installed only a few apps through titanium and all seem to be working nicely.

I still have the same problem I had with CM9 though and the external SD. I can't access it through a file explorer if I click on 'external_SD, even though it is there and accessible through emmc. The pictures show on the gallery, the music available in the player etc. But no luck trying to browse or copy unless I access through the emmc link.

Anyone else got this?

Ye. Just go via emmc. I adjusted to this as the new norm.

In CM10 the root is /extSdCard.

Custom Roms
Can anyone assist me with a list of available custom roms for the Galaxy Note. Im currently on CM9 4.0.4 and loving it, but i just want to try something different. any links will be helpful

Thanks

Cool, changed back to CM9 RC2 though as I couldn't get gmail to work and it's one of the non-negotiables for me. But lots to look forward to when the nightlies start :)

Did you flash CM10, Gapps, wipe then boot?

All my stuff works (except A2DP). Gmail included.

Custom roms

There's lots to choose from. Now trying to figure out were to start. R these all stable roms

Rear this thread

Take your pick, there's plenty to go around...[/QUOTE]

No, I realised after I'd reinstalled CM9 that I'd skipped over that step. I had just restored a few apps using titanium including Gmail. No biggy though. I'll give it a longer run over the weekend when I've got a bit more time.

How are you finding it? Will you keep it for a while?

Ye, I am going to keep it running. It lags every now and again but nothing I can't put up with.

Aside from lack of A2DP everything I need works well so is good enough for a daily driver.

Battery seems to hold out a little longer which is a good thing. Need a bit more time though to be sure I am not just imagining things.

Lock screen is awesome.
Google Now is pretty neat but not much use for it yet.

CM10 Preview on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Transformer runs brilliant. Project Butter is awesome.

I have been mulling over trading my Note for a Nexus. I don't like ROMS with the Samsung bloat anyway so may as well go to a stock Google device and receive latest versions a lot faster as a bonus. Still thinking though. Love my Note.

I agree with your last paragraph completely. If only there were a 5.3" Nexus phone, I'd have jumped ship long ago. I'm over Samsung.

I'm hearing you. Got a nice tax rebate heading my way shorty and was wondering how to treat myself. S3 was top of the list but I might just hang about a short while and see what the Note 2 brings. Never thought about Nexus but I'll keep an open mind.

Anyhoo, I reinstalled today using the jb gapps and played around a bit, gmail working fine  Sure, not as smooth and lurvely as rc2 but still nice for a preview. So back to rc2 for me until the nightlies start.

Now I see they have pulled the preview due to someone 'reporting' a brick. This in lieu of another preview release tonight as well. Although I suspect that's you on the thread asking about A2DP and you already know this :)

Shame about the pull mind you.

Yup, that is me :D

The guys that brick are the same ones that don't read. The one dude says outright that he flashed from a Sammy ICS based ROM. Duh! How can you go tinkering with such an expensive device without taking a little time to read.

Looking forward to the second release just now. Butter partially working apparently. Nice if they get it finished.

CM10 Preview is a BIG jump forward over Preview 1. Nice!

Sensors working, but inverted - lol.
Going to test and see if A2DP is working when my movie is finished.
