Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

Cool I will download it tonight

Then I just flash it using CWM-based recovery? I have v5.0.2.7

No, use odin, its official.

You will see on sammobile 2 copies for south africa, they are identical in pda and csc codes, but one has specifically been named with vodafone in brackets, that will technically be codacoms official one, my guess is it has some minor setting or config difference that warrented only a naming difference instead of completely seperate versions.

It depends on which csc code you have on your phone... I'm not too sure if you need to be on stock rom or not... I had my OTA notification this morning when I got up... and downloaded through Kies... My feeling about it is that Only Vodacom and the Open csc have been updated, so if you on maybe MTN, or Cell C, the update might not be there yet... I don't know for sure, but the firmware titles and codes on sammobile seem to suggest that....

Sorry, If I downloaded the Firmware from the SamMobile site, how do I flash it with Odin?

Sorry for the questions, but I am a serious noob when flashing with odin....

I had the eu rom on and when I checked the site and sammobile there was a direct update, however kies nor ota picked it up. Could be sim related but I just grabbed the SA rom and updated with odin.

Also ota does a periodic check, honestly not sure when or how often its done, kies os obviously when you connect. But weather you do it ota, kies or odin you still getting the exact same rom and will be downloading the exact same file. Both open and vodafone named roms on sammobile have identical pda and csc codes and are both marked as available through kies.

Its an official update so no matter which update method you use you will still have your warranty, you will still have all your app, configs and what nots installed. Only thing is if you used root you will need to re-root.

I have a stock standard note (2.3.6) on vodacom, doesn't register any update for me :(

Guides on sammobile for it. but its quite simple, extract the zip file making sure u have a folder with a .tar.md5 file and a dll file.

Reboot phone into download mode. Vol down + home + power.

run odin and load the .tar.md5 in by the pda button.

Connect phone, one of the boxes should turn yellow and have a com port number.

Bellow that will be 4 check boxes, 2 and 3 need to be filled.

Then flash and wait. Should take around 5 min, will reboot and update google and sammy apps.

i know this is asking a lot, but would you mind telling me exactly what process to follow if I want to download it off sammobile and go that route. I have a free evening tonight so I would like to get it done if possible

+ REP ;)

edit thanks :D see you already done it in post #792

mind posting a screenie of your "about phone" page ?

About page gives info on current rom, you need to get to the hardware menu to get pda and csc codes, cant remember the codes for that, easier to install the sammobile app. It can read your devices hardware codes.
