One last check... Try this for me....

Keypad dialer: insert *#06# to show your IMEI number. Write this down.

Now type in keypad dialer phone dialer *#272*<your IMEI>#. This will give you a list. Take note of which one is selected, and press cancel. Do not press install, as that will change your CSC to another region. Unless you want to of course... It will either be XFA; XFV; XFC; XFM.....

Figured I would check it myself too, my phones a vodacom one.

Sales Code: XEU
PDA: V7000XXLRI
Phone: N7000XXLRB
CSC: N7000OJVLR3

Now the last 3 correspond with the rom I downloaded this morning, did some reading and they are essentially version numbers which will update with each rom update.
One thing about the CSC code though, if the country code, in this case JVLR3 is preceded by a "O" that means the rom is an open rom for the country referenced by the following code, ie not network specific.

I downloaded the Vodafone version of the rom this am which has this "O" so basically both SA versions on sammobile are open and available for all networks, there is then still not truely official vodacom specific rom, vodacom seems to be using the open one.

XFV is the country code for South Africa on the Vodafone network.
XFV and XFA should be getting OTA updates

THe vodafone one will work for you, as will every other ICS ROM, only dif is ones for SA will actually allow you to keep your warranty.

Then you should be getting your update very soon... At the moment, it's only XFA and XFV that have 4.0.4 available on sammobile and checkfus.... so it could just be network issues..... I remember when 2.3.6 came out, some folk got it before others, yet they were on the same network, and csc codes....

I got my OTA notification this morning, so it must have switched over during the night while I was sleeping... Others might be getting theirs in the next few days...

Prematurely, your like weeks behind the rest of us. LOL
As long as its the SA rom you will have no warranty concerns, thats the one and only reason I switched from the EU to ZA rom this morning. I was about to go download the German one as EU and SA were taking too long.

Can you see any problem with changing XFV to XFA?

I paid full price for mine but it was supplied as XFV.
 
My Wife got OTA pushed last night .. just checked .. she's on 4.0.4 (she never lets me tinkle with her goodies :twisted:) so it was stock 2.3.6 prior.
 
If you on GB, and you change CSC, then no worries at all. It will wipe your phone though. Still under warranty, as long as its a sa firmware as mentioned earlier. If you on ics already, then do not change CSC unless you on a safe kernel....

Reboot phone into download mode. Vol down + home + power.

run odin and load the .tar.md5 in by the pda button.

Connect phone, one of the boxes should turn yellow and have a com port number.

Bellow that will be 4 check boxes, 2 and 3 need to be filled.

Then flash and wait. Should take around 5 min, will reboot and update google and sammy apps.

Admitedly an odd thing to break, but I have had trouble in the past with notify my android, its push link would break after upgrades. Simple reinstall would fix it.

OH HELLZ NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have just joined the international club of the emmc bug beneficiaries. Every official and unofficial version of the samsung galaxy ICS kernels is affectec but the emmc bug, aka permanent brick bug.
One of it primary causes is the factory reset. Using an official rom only keeps your phone under warranty in the extremely unlikely event you get hit with it, last I checked there was no know repair other than a return to sammy for a complete hardware level reset.

The only time resets/data wipes are advisable is when using unofficial custom roms such as Cyanogen as upgrades between releases can leave trace files behind and cause bugs as they do not quite follow an official upgrade route. I have done the upgrade twice already without even a hint of needing to venture even near the factory reset button.

CWM could be getting in the way, I know when I last had cwm on it had no available recovery replacement for my note, wasn't really too worried so I just took it off.

No idea bout other phone but my nexus s did not have a seperate download and recovery mode, they werw one in the same.

You could try switching to download mode on updating via odin. that should bypass any problems cwm may be causing.

Im not sure which firmware to download for MTN from SamMobile.

How do I remove CWM and revert back to stock?

Makes no dif which sa rom u get from sammobile, they both the same. Don't even need an sa rom, it is however better for warranty.

Never needed to remove the custom recovery, best guess is somewhere in the app, but if you flash with odin you will go back to stock anyway.
 
Furk.. I'm a little annoyed that a company as big as samsung would use Hotfile.com to host their roms.. Stupid actually.
