Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

Sooo, Note 2 is being launched very soon...

Upgrade is due mid Sept and without a doubt the Note is the only contender, wathced and read every review I could possibly find but wasn't prepared for the moment I actually held one in my hands... I got to have one! Have no idea how I'm going to wait for the Note 2 if it's going to be in SA any later than October, any guesses on that one? And probably being on a budget would push that date even further

Secondly, coming from BlackBerry and thus not caring for my phone much, what (if any) effect could a handbag's magnet have if the phone would be pocketed directly where the magnet is? (Feels like I'm shopping for a new baby on the way).

The first Note was released in the first week of November (across the world and in SA), the rumour is that this Note will hit the market earlier so you shouldn't have to wait too long. Don't expect the Note 2's price to go down though, almost all the currently available deals are still the same as the launch prices or just a few rand cheaper (however the Note 1 should go down in price once the Note 2 gets released).

Apparently, all networks... It's basically one firmware file, just different CSC codes.... My connection is very very slow, so will take a few hours to download....

Edit: Just checked Sammobile.... XFA and XFV CSC codes are updated to 4.0.4..... The others are still on 2.3.6.... Most probably will come through either today or tomorrow

The brick, aka emmc bug, is not caused by rooting, its caused by a bug in the kernel of the official samsung ics rom, as far as info goes tgis bug is still present in 4.0.4. Rooting never has been the cause. Its primary cause is said to be factory resets within the phone setting or boot recovery.

+1 What he says!

Well, now that the firmware is released, if you do brick while doing a reset of some sort, you are covered by the warranty....

Can't really test it, but update went smoothly....

I'm also on the same. And no update

But I keep on getting the error 'GT-N7000' does not support initialising when I'm going to Kies and by selecting Firmware upgrade and initialization

I'm using CheckRom, how would I go about getting the stock VC ICS?
