Official Tri-Nations 2011 Thread

Why is everyone so happy? We only managed to beat a very weak AB side by 13 points. They managed to put 40 points against our weakened side. We hardly got in their half and most of our points came from penalties because of Thomson. They must have broken through our line 20 times. They just messed up the tries from it. I doubt the AB's will make that mistake again.

Brussouw had a brilliant game, Steyn kicked well and I though Hougaard had a good game. Was a bit disappointed with Spies after a brilliant game last week but I didn't really see anyone else to write home about.
 
It's a win and for the first time this season we've looked competetive. We need to work on our attack and the wholes in our defence have been exposed and we can now fix them.
 
I think our tight 5 had a great game as well. They scrummed brilliantly and cleaned out at the rucks. Also goes to prove the theory of open side and blind side flankers. While Brussouw was awesome, Alberts had a strong game in the tight phases.

Fourie (dP) is still a bit rusty...
 
It's only the second game our A team played together this year. We can only move forward from this. And the win will do the team morale very good. Maybe the Kiwis will be striked by their world cup curse again. Peaking just before the cup starts.
I also think our stategy of resting our players early on in the Tri nations, and giving them some game time in the last two matches was a good move.

My concern is that we looked competitive against a second sting AB side. That's not good. I would have expected us to dominate the game. Their fly half made a whole chunk of mistakes giving us possession again and again and I didn't see us break the line once. We kicked up an unders and chased them well but we didn't get any go forward ball. Even our rolling malls didn't look too great. I am very worried about us in the WC.
