Official Web Africa thread

I have been contacted by the billing department and they have cancelled the ADSL effective immediately and also committed to refund me for June and July.

Thanks for the help

Happy to assist - have a super weekend and thank you for keeping us informed ;-)

I've canceled with my current ISP (line and data portion) and signed up with WA to take over both. My current ISP has not given me an effective date at which my line will move back to the holding pool, but it should be before the end of the month. Is there any way I can ensure WA picks this up so I don't sit with any downtime?

Good morning Iwojima. As soon as the line is transferred to the holding pool we would imagine that a notification is sent to advise you about it. There will be a soft suspension placed on the line so if the internet stops working then that should be an indication that it is ready for transfer. Sadly we aren't advised about this so we will need the client to advise us about it to get the line back up asap.

The moment the line is put into the holding pool - you receive a SMS in confirmation of this. Please call us on 0860009500 - the moment you receive that SMS - so we are able to process a migration of your DSL line, seeing as your line is already DSL enabled , all we would need to do is - migrate the already enabled DSL line to our systems - this takes less than 2 working days max.

PS: once you receive the SMS in confirmation of the DSL line in the holding pool - you have exactly 5 days to ensure we are aware and process the migration before Telkom systems sees the line as pending cancellation

The data package is super simple - once the line is active with us and has reflective sync (signal from the exchange to your router)* we can activate a data package immediately and it would be as simple and saving your new data service username and password

So .... pretty please let us know when you receive that SMS - we on standby for you ;-)

Hi WebAfrica Helper,

Would just like to find out.

Does WebAfrica's data packages on Fiber have the same after hours data like with your adsl data packages?

Also, can you elaborate on your FUP on the uncapped packages?

Thank you

Hello ;-)

Our fibre capped packages does indeed receive the 1000GB from midnight to 6am for your downloading pleasures.
With regards to our fibre uncapped packages, all our fibre clients that choose to add a uncapped data plan to their profile would not be subject to the FUP - unless they have a openserve fibre line installed.

I'm having a 100mbps Openserve fibre line installed in a few weeks. I'm interested in a WA capped fibre package, but have concerns from my WA ADSL experiences in the past, where even on capped Usenet downloads and torrents were heavily shaped. Is this still the case, or can I expect line speed at all times?

Please DM us your details will gladly get the team to call you to further discuss any and all inquiries. Torrents are illegal though :-p. To answer your question - all capped fibre data packages are not subject to shaping

That's like saying the WWW is illegal because it could potentially be used for piracy. But thanks for the reply and the info.

Anyone else wake up this morning with no internet connection?
Green internet light on router is on but I am unable to browse the net.

I had to reset mine now, but it's working again. Worryingly though, the dsl console no longer shows any after hours bandwidth? :eeek: @WebAfrica Helper

I had reset my router at 6:30 this morning and that didn't work. Not home to try that again unfortunately. At least its not just my account and there is bigger issue.

As for the missing usage data in the console... yeah, that is annoying.

Was also down this morning. Switched to Afrihost account and it worked. Friend of mine says his fibre is still down though.
