Oneplus 3T

You right, it was $28 for shipping..

They sent a euro adapter (2 pin) for the flash charger. Just tell them you in ZA.
But I'm just using my normal USB plug for the cable to go into.

Did you get the Chinese model? And do you still get Dash charging with using a USB port?

Also, I'm wondering if using an adapter with the charger has an effect on the Dash charging.

It was the Chinese model, they flash the phone to the international firmware\software.

The Dash charger is a separate charger, so no to dash charging with USB port.

The adapter doesn't make a difference to the Dash charger, it still is very quick. Almost full charge in an hour

Nice, shot for the feedback. Thinking of buying it to replace my now aging OnePlus One, but I'm hesitant to buy a phone with no local support or easily available accessories. The screen protector of my OnePlus One is chipped in several places and I haven't been able to replace it!

Other option I'm thinking of is the Huawei Mate 9 - it looks really good and has gotten some pretty good reviews so far. Funny that there is not thread on it here on MyBB (as far as I can tell)!

Bought my OnePlus 3T on AliExpress. They going for about $440 + $13 postage. So Around R6100. Was an extra R500 for import duties and DHL admin cost.
Delivered to my door in 4 working days!
Awesome phone, and did the OTA upgrade last week to Android 7 (Marshmallow). Nice thing about AliExpress is the customer protection, so if you don't get your product you can raise a dispute and get your money back.

How long did it take to ship the device out. How long did it take to be handed over to DHL

The chinese are celebrating their lunar new year, so orders will only be processed (including backlogs) after 3rd Feb

Been on an iOS diet for the last couple of years. Last droid was the S4 but just ordered the 3T and I must say, really excited for this little gem...

From payment to delivery at my door was 4 days. It took 1 day for the credit card payment to clear. They are celebrating new year. So might be a little slower now.

Could you or someone else here please explain why the standard rom does not have Google play store? Is this a country ban thing or just oneplus? How do you get apps then?

Also, the seller mentions he flashes custom rom. Is this official oneplus rom, just another country/international version?
Are OTA updates delivered to the phone? If not, does that mean flashing manually every time an update is released?

Feedback much appreciated

Just install the gapps package for your Android version. Alternatively just instal the apks that you want.

I was mulling between this and the MI Note 2. Think I'll be going for this instead, much better price and arguably a better phone. How good is the Oxygen OS, I am used to MIUI now, but I guess it's a simple adjustment.

I ordered the OnePlus 3T for its custom ROM support, so Oxygen OS doesn't really bug me. Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S6 (S4 and S3 prior), I'm looking forward to breaking free to a true Android experience.

Their service is superb!! Should have it within the next 7 working days.

Such a cool phone. Absolutely loving it!!

Can't wait! Ordered a silicon case with the device. :D

Did they give you a European (or local) wall adapter?

The silicon case is a waste of time, really entry level case but it will do until my Rinke clear bumper case and black Diztronic cases get here sometime in the next 2 weeks. Ordered off Amazon, R490 all in...

There's a screen protector already factory fitted plus they included a tempered glass screen protector too!! Pretty chuffed with that.

The dash charger is UK spec with an adapter to fit our local plug points.

The build quality is outstanding. The phone has such a premium feel and finish and really fits snugly in hand. Very elegantly crafted and as good as anything coming out of the Samsung and Apple stables.

Oxygen is as stock standard Android as you going to get barring a custom build. There is practically zero bloatware on this device. It's basically the Google suite of apps and not much else. They haven't over done the customization and settings menu either. Just enough to keep it interesting. Where Samsung have recently gone overboard with options most don't use or find practical, Oneplus/Oxygen include far fewer but what they do include are so incredibly practical and well considered that you'll find yourself using them daily.

Performance is stellar. Device is ultra responsive and there's no noticeable lag under any circumstances. In app performance is still not as fluid as iOS though but pretty damn close!! The finger print scanner is ridiculously quick, although not always accurate if pressed at odd angles. With 6gb's of ram, multitasking is a none issue.

I recently gave up my primary number in order to take advantage of MTN's black friday promotion. The dual sim feature is so well implemented. I'm using new and old sims and they function seamlessly. That's hugely beneficial.

Battery life has been solid. I'll get a better idea once the novelty of a new phone has worn off and I can put it down for longer than 10 minutes at a time. From 0-60% took 30 minutes using the Dash charger. That's their claims, I timed it and it's spot on!! That's no mean feat considering it's a 3400mAh battery.

Camera is possibly a bit below par compared to the big hitters, P9, S7, iPh7 but still decent enough.

Also the screen is top notch but doesn't quite have the vibrancy or detail of some of the premium flagship devices. This is possibly the only area where expectations weren't met.

Anyway, loving the phone 2 days in. Got Squarehome2 setup and configured to my liking, and as a launcher, it just does it for me. It's based on the Windows tile format but with a plethora of options and settings. It works beautifully on the 3T and I love the departure from the traditional icon layouts we so used to seeing.

My primary reason to root would be custom fonts! I have a very particular font in mind and the stock font on the 3T is not quite it.

I'm not sure there's a custom rom out there that would be much of an improvement on stock tbh.

Oh there's always a custom rom that will put a stock rom to shame. Just have know what you value in a rom and look in the right places.
