Oneplus 3T

Battery life?

Battery consumption patterns are so subjective, difficult to comment on.

For now I haven't been able to put this phone down!! Screen brightness is at about 95% too. While the screen is decent it's not S7 or Pixel decent. It's doesn't pop with the same vibrancy of some of the top tier devices so I'm stressing the battery with high brightness to compensate. I don't know any battery saving tricks on Android either, coming from iOS.

What is impressive is the dash charger and whatever charging tech it uses.

Oneplus claim 0-60% in 30 minutes. I've timed it and it's true to form. The battery will charge from 0 to full in just under an hour. Very impressive...

All being said, even with my constant fetishing over the device, I'm getting in excess of a full days usage out of the device.

Sandman, I see yours went via Hong Kong - JHB direct. Lucky!

Mine has made a stop over from Hong Kong to the UAE, before it departs to Cape Town. Seems processing in the UAE is a lot slower than in Hong Kong.

Hopefully I receive it on Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait!!! :D

That's a bit of a bummer! All things being equal I would say Monday or Tuesday delivery too. They'll phone with the import duties and taxes bill, shouldn't be more than R400. They'll email you an invoice and once you've paid that the items cleared and processed for delivery. Personally I was blown away by their service. The women I spoke to at 9am on the Wednesday morning didn't send the invoice to the right email address. I phoned them back at 4pm that afternoon and asked them where the invoice was. They sent it and I paid. Same time the following day the parcel arrived.

Been styling ever since. You also a former iPhone user right?

So they delivered to your door? I thought I might have to go to Cape Mail to pay customs and collect as I have done with other parcels from overseas - but they weren't handled by DHL, just plain old SAPO.

I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S6, looking for a more open Android experience that I found limiting for power users on Samsung (and other) phones.

This is the exact reason I want the phone:

Yeah. Door to door. Awesome experience all round.

Custom rom is definitely an option but like I said earlier in this thread, Oneplus have taken a minimalist approach to the OS and the phone is all the better off for it. Oxygen 4.0.3 is basically that custom rom experience so many Android users hanker for generally.

Having said that though, If anyone here finds a custom rom that will improve significantly on an already almighty performer, feel free to share the details thereof... :)

Right. If my capitec card wasn't down, I'd already have ordered one :p

I was seriously expecting much more of a mission. Let's hope it all goes well!

Thanks sand_man ;)

Pleasure. Good luck man. And with your credit card!

Hi ALL,

I have just bought OnePlus 3T in India and my friend is bringing it to SouthAfrica.
it is a 64Gb version. I am willing to sell it @6000 ZAR as I am willing to buy one with 128GB.
I am selling it at the same price as i have bought it.
It has not yet been used. It is unpacked to check that the delivery was correct and that there are no damages. Works fine with SouthAfrican sim.

@ Sandman - It seems my device is held up at customs, this is what it shows on DHL's tracking page:

I've had no call from DHL yet. The phone arrived in CPT on Saturday. Did you have the same?

My limited experience would tell me that customs need the invoice to clear.

Correct. So usually within a day or 2 at customs, DHL will contact the buyer with customs and duties fee. Once paid the parcel is cleared.

Pulled the trigger on Aliexpress, was a bit disgusted to see the amount equated to R13.50/USD, whilst the exchange rate is at R13.10. I expect Ali's equivalent to Paypal aren't shy with their commissions.

Strange, I paid R6003 (stock 64gb gunmetal), including shipping. How much was your total?

Get a capitec account, they don't charge conversion fees. Handy to have as backup account :)

R6319 for the case/glass protector bundle, including DHL. Just waiting for the customs fees. Funny thing is that after payment was verified and the order shows as being shipped, the tracking number was for an item which was delivered in Italy on the 16th of Feb! Huh?
