Oneplus 6T

You can't calculate customs, rather estimate and hope. It changes randomly unfortunately, even though there are rates that should be followed.

They calculate the amounts on the FX rate when shipment arrived, which could be quite different to what you actually paid.

Also, they don't always use the correct duty percentages.

So, somewhat hit and miss.

Well then your supplier lied about the value, which in itself could be liable for a fine if caught, and people are getting caught. 15% vat on a R1000 device is R150. Do the math.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing.
I will continue to look for ways not to fund our comrades.

I want to pull the trigger as well on the 6T, ordered from oneplus directly in US and delivered using amarex. I am unsure of the supported frequency bands. Will I have any problems on 3/4G here. I use Afrihost Mobile which roam on MTN network

According to the specs they support:

FDD LTE: Band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/ 19/20/25/26/28/29/30/32/66/71
TDD LTE: Band 34/38/39/40/41/46
TD-SCDMA: Band 34/39
UMTS(WCDMA): Band 1/2/4/5/8/9/19
CDMA: BC0/BC1
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

I want to pull the trigger at Gearbest - $ price a little more expensive than the USA version, but seems that I might save on VAT and duties?

And - it seems that CHINA LTE Bands are good for SA?

D.

How will you save on vat and duties?
I've had gearbest once label a 450$ item as R450. I didnt ask for it to be done. The duties I paid was the amount of a coke can. On another order I was charged the full dollar amount in duties. So I don't think it's done intentionally. Perhaps it is, who knows.

Well you're not going to get it cheaper. You have to pay vat and customs.
Unless you acquire it by other means, TIA.

- swopping perlemoen for OP6T
- paying Mexicans to smuggle across border(s) to SA
- request Somalian pirates to hijack a boat of OP6T
- win the lotto and fly to the factory
- trade with North Korea rhino horn for OP6T.
- asking Nigerian in CBD if he has "stock" without a box...

Have one 6T cover if anyone is interested
Looks like a spigen cover R150
