Highly unlikely. The update process you usually stall and/or fail if compatibility issues are detected.thoughts around the possibility of bricking the phone with a future update?

Really hope that doesnt happen
not expecting it to happen but not impossible
Yip not ImpossibleThe fact that there hasn't been a lot of updates yet, means no one actually knows.
I did a bit of reading on XDA and Reddit, and although its "Unlikely" it does happen to some ie: The "One-Way Ticket" Trap.
So I can get the chinese Oneplus 15 base model for like £510. Crazy to think for a flagship phone. Seriously tempted, but Im a bit confused about the need of flashing to the global rom?
As far as I understand everything will work on the Chinese stock rom, updates and banking apps etc. Only downside is some bloatware, google news (swipe left) & voice assistant wont work, and it needs to set up from a notifications point of view
You can flash the global rom, but banking apps wont work unless you lock the bootloader but thats irreversible?
I think the Oneplus 13 has a somewhat similar process?
I think Im going to hold out to buying until there is more data on the updates etc.
I got OP12 from these guys in May 2024, when they were selling from carbonite.co.za. Everything works for me apart from esim.
