OOB Data : Vodacom cheaper Virgin mobile ?

MY 2c Worth ! If anyone Cares ............

If i had a mobile phone Network and i Sold Data @ R5 per megabyte.

If all my competitors sold data @ 50c per megbyte.

Would I have reason to reduce my price if people stayed with me paid faithfully but only Complained about PRICE.

I could live with the complaints as long as they paid every month on time.

So VodaCom Please increase your prices till Customers Leave you !

All arguments are pointless.

I think Virgin is crap for being slow (if not dead at times).
I think Vodacom is crap for being super-expensive.

I as a consumer want fast speeds. I as a consumer would also like a steady monthly income (I'm a student). If I as a consumer had a steady monthly income I would take out a data bundle from Vodacom, because it's cheaper and faster than Virgin. (Not really. I would get Axxess Uncapped Internet. But I'm sure you grasp my point.)

BUT. I don't have a steady monthly income. Although I WANT VC's fast speeds, there is no way in hell that I would pay R2 for something I can get for R0,60, albeit at slower speeds. At the end of the day I still downloaded that MP3, still checked in on Facebook, still checked in on MyBB forums.

Thus, Virgin wins. I hate you Virgin! I hate you Vodacom! I hate you ALL!!!

While I can sit here all night with good arguments like you have loads more subscribers than the small networks and thats where you justify your network size against - its not worth it. You will never come to a point where you say "mmm never thought of it that way but Virgin Mobile is not competition for us and MTN so we'll just ride the here R2/MB wave for as long as we can, ktxby".

Plus there are loads of others here that absolutely love the idea of paying more per MB and less so whats the point of me going on and on about it then. Just nod and smile.

I don't need to defend anything. Except common sense which, with all due respect, you seem to lack in this debate. :rolleyes:

You build something that's got higher specs (be it a computer, car, airplane, building, piece of software or whatever), it's going to cost more to make (which you must recover) and more to run.

And thus when you on-sell it, your rate will be higher. (Which VC is not, btw.)

Economics-101....:rolleyes:
