Hi Mr Beep,

Been having quite a bit of trouble with my account in terms of payment. My account is 3 months old and every month Openweb says my debit order fails, my account is de-activated and that I have to do an EFT, which I then immediately do to get it re-activated.

The thing is I have now checked with my bank (FNB) twice and they can not find the debit order loaded on their system. I was on the phone with Openweb support throughout Monday and they confirmed that my debit order was not loaded on their side either. I gave them my banking details again to load the debit order and get it sorted.

Last night I get another mail stating that the debit order has returned unpaid and that I should EFT. I have replied to the mail and phoned support today (around 9am) but apparently the accounts section only communicates via e-mail. I have not heard from them yet.

Is it possible for someone to contact me so I can get this resolved. I'd very much like to avoid getting my account de-activated again.

From the 27th, midnight this chart was removed as it no longer applied (as Free billing kicked in on the 27th to month end)

That is what Leon said but this was not on the page for the special. It purely said what I quoted above. I can upload a screen shot if you want. Therefore based on the information given to me I was not billed correctly.

As I said before, the text about paying 50% pro-rata appeared on the Standard uncapped promotion page and not on the 2 for 1 silver uncapped promotion page.

I agree with the above. I recall seeing the "pro-rata" message when I signed up, and was charged the full amount, after signing up on February 13th. Since I signed up on the 13th, I should have been charged (28-12)/28*699=R399. Being charged the full amount is not pro-rata.
 
This will be investigated, as all promotional accounts use the same chart.

I'll do that. It's not that I'm not happy with your system, it's that the cost wasn't communicated to me therefore why should I be liable for it.

I switched to ow from mweb about a week ago. Best decision ever.

wish i could say the same. my 1mb line ran at about 10kbps (95kbps) slower than my line did at mweb (105kbps). on a gold package. but my 2mb line is about 20kbps (200kbps) slower than mweb (220kbps).

there's nothing wrong with my line or anything. its just slower.

i test it against my cybersmart and webafrica accounts and for some reason its slower.

nothing changed except that i changed from mweb to openweb.

So would you lot recommend openweb? Canned my Afrihost account and now I can't decide if I should go back to Webafrica or Afrihost as they now unshaped I see.

yip get a trail and test man. but just go gold cos standard gets shaped to hell during the day. it runs like a rabid dog outside of business hours though.

dammit what am i saying. this thing sux. honestly go webafrica or mweb. much better.:cry:

Haha! Yeah ok will go to WA *wink*

Don't like the sound of that shaping during the day. Gold is a bit pricey for a 4MB uncapped. Will get a trial and see. Shot!

i reckon the shaping is more severe the lower you go. vanilla->standard(me:cry:)->silver->gold(laanies)->platinum(laanies)

enjoy the trail...
 
mr beep whats the shaping like on the 'Gamers King (Downloaders Bling)'? ive heard the network busy song, etc. is it as severe as standard?
 
Unshaped downloading is a little ambiguous with the new gamer accounts. Is the entire connection unshaped or is it specific stuff like torrents, usenet, Rapidshare etc?
