If I cancel today, and my debit order goes off on the 1st of April, am I going to get another debit order deduction on the 1st of May? I never know how this Month Notice works as a month notice seems to differ from ISP to ISP. Help would be appreciated :D
 
I cant believe it! I am having EXACTLY the same experience! Except mine has been average at best since the start! The trial account I was given was amazing! This after I was interested in the Silver 2mb...was so impressed I went Gold...wow... coming from Afrihost Business 2mb I have been nothing but severely disappointed in my openweb experience. Did they never make the step up from being a one man ISP? Support and website client dashboard are non-existent, except for a lady that tried her best but couldnt offer any real technical support as such. Was given a different account to try...it worked a tiny bit better..keyword being tiny! They say you can use your details to login at alwayson wifi but they dont give you the info on how, or your details or tell you which provider to login under either. Mr Beep is a myadsl legend and SA internet pioneer but maybe his Openweb has grown too big for the pot plant :(

And now NO feedback or news release regarding the downtime...not even in the Myadsl article done today! What is going on Openweb?

My openweb fairytail has left me very frustrated. For the price I will prob go back to Afrihost business 2mb...unshaped and everything fullspeed all the time. Not to mention a customer experience that doesnt make you feel like youre floating out at sea :(

Openweb up to their usual BS, switching your account and no answer to why it is needed to begin with. Im thinking of quiting for good this time. Also being shaped to hell and back on a 2mb uncapped

I have PMed you, still waiting for any call from your manager or tech support! since thsi morning... No response to my email from this morning! Speed issues still there and Speedtest.net wont even load half the time....
 
Rather regretting my hasty signup over the weekend now. Silver 2mb crawling along at 25KB/s with "bursts" up to 40KB/s every now and then. That's not even acceptable for a 1mb service.. Hope its just teething problems, so not giving up just yet.

So those of you who're constantly talking about your great performance on Silver uncapped, what's the secret?

what exactly are you doing that you only get 25-40kb/s...speedtest? torrent? usenet? youtube, what?
 
Update: so i finally get an email from tech support after waiting all day. It is a one liner stating, we are sorry, we are running on redundancy and have no TAT. How about keeping your clients in the loop, without us having to chase up? How about responding quicker and managing expectations? And i still feel that a Gold account 2 mb should not ever be downloading at 15 kb/sec http, even on redundancy....

Think it's just a really bad time with the multiple cable breaks and ISPs routing traffic differently than usual to make sure there is some access for everyone.

I am also having abnormally slow speeds at the moment and I haven't had any noticeable issues since I signed up for the account last year. Over the weekend I had no issues but obviously now that the businesses are back priority has shifted.

ok that's what i was thinking, so i'm not gonna panic about it until the seacom nonsense is over. at least its a usable connection and i can get work done, unlike the ship i jumped from :)

HTTP & FTP from server at Hetnzer, Germany and another in CPT. got a 100mb file on each that i can access via both http/ftp to check realistic d/load speeds.

Not too bothered right now though, as per my last reply...

Same here. my Usenet is only going at 50kB/s and I have to top it up with some EmuParadise downloads in FDM to get more speed - Downloads are still not 100%, very unstable.

Usually I can get the needle stuck on 111KB/s using any single method I want. :(

I'm only on a 4Mbit standard account but http during the day is never really a problem. Today I'm only getting 100KB/s. I don't ever do NNTP during the day because it's useless on a standard account :D

I had just enough from OpenWeb. I am on a 2Mbit uncapped gold account and for the last 40 days I get only 0.2 Mbit speed on everything during the day, it feels like the account is throttled, it took 10 minutes to send an email. At 17h00 it goes back to 1.72Mbit until 8h00 sharp in the morning. I guess we all dumped on an overcrowded network. I complained about it, I have been given a new user name, the account was recreated, it worked for 2 days and afterwards it went bad again. I complained again, I've been told that everything is perfect with my account, the next day I phoned again but nobody bothered to call me back. I have been waiting for the last months hoping to see a change; maybe the ISP had problems at that time but nothing, no change. I will cancel my account before the end of the months but to be honest I feel I should have it cancelled on the spot without 1 months notice because OpenWeb does not offer the service I paid for.

You can't really blame OW for this though, this is a seacom cable problem and things are a little dodgy for all isps at the moment.
What you gonna do, go to mweb? some users reported that their lines were completely dead.

Swapping around ISPs for a temporary issue is stupid - in a week from now OpenWeb will be flying again and then you're stuck on MWeb/Afrihost.

I'm waiting it out.
 
Jeez, you oukes are not making things easier. I cancelled Afrihost Business 2MB Uncapped to go to Openweb on their 2MB Silver Uncapped, and now everyone here complains of slow speeds. I dunno who to go with anymore !
